Bill Murray's most Underrated Comic Creation.,
By Bradley Tobin (Penrith, Sydney NSW Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quick Change [VHS] (VHS Tape)
"Quick Change" is Absolutely Hysterical. The 3 principle actors give the Performances of their Comedy Careers. Bill Murray also Co-directs, proving what a true cinema legend he is.Bill Murray, Geena Davis and Randy Quaid star as 3 would-be Bank robbers who Succeed in their well-laid robbery plans, yet Fail in their plans for Escape. The Robbery is over in about 10 minutes of screen time, the rest of the film deals with their Futile Escape attempts from the Isle of Manhattan. Whatever could go wrong, does go wrong as they deal with Foreign Cab drivers, Slick Stick-up men, Gun wielding Couples, Malicious Mobsters and Determined Police. Bill's Straight-faced Sarcastic comedy styling has Never been used to such full effect as they are here. The role suits him like James Bond suits Pierce Brosnan. Geena and Randy support him Wonderfully, as do Tony Shalhoub, Stanley Tucci, Jason Robards and Kurtwood Smith. The Writing and Directing are Snappy, Witty and Fast Paced. "Quick Change" is Criminally Underrated. So many people I know have never heard of it, I show it to them and they Immediately Adore it. Everything in it works Perfectly and virtually Everyone should enjoy it.

New York's Finest Thieves,
By
This review is from: Quick Change [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Bill Murray, Geena Davis and Randy Quaid play New York's perfect criminals. They have the perfect bank robbery plan. It's perfectly executed. The only thing that gets in the way is the city in which they operate. The city that spawned these crooks, also spawned the madness (the same madness that frustrated Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis in THE OUT OF TOWNERS) that get in the way of their getaway. From the opening scene of Bill Murray in a clown costume, I knew I was in for a quirky film, but it was much more than that. This was a surprisingly funny movie that captures the essential oddities of the city. Philip Bosco plays a bus driver who would better be suited as a Marine drill sergeant at Parris Island, and he's just one of the eccentrics. I won't give anything else away. Just take my advice and give this underrated film a look.

Good movie, see it for yourself,

Without the mass appeal of "What about Bob?" or "Groundhog Day", this film is still very enjoyable and entertaining but perhaps is geared to the audience that is a bit more sophisticated than average. Not relying on silliness/slapstick or situation as it's engine, this movie starts out as if it is a serious "bank heist" action thriller and then quickly moves into the actual plot; three robbers lead by comedy superstar Murray have to "get out of Dodge". Murray remains the cream of the crop of early SNL stars going on to screen and while others like Chase and Aykroyd play entertaining characters, they don't have the range that Murray does and this film is an example of that. Being both convincingly serious and downright funny at the same time is not easy to pull off. The rest of the cast is great and this movie was both well written and acted, a definite strong recommendation.

A Kid's Review
I've been waiting months and months for it to come out, and nobody wants to move a finger to put it out on DVD. There is so much crap out on DVD, so why cant they put out something actually GOOD?!? This is one of Bill Murray's best, and is my third favorite movie, apart from Groundhog Day being 1st, and Harold and Maude being 2nd. Please produce this on DVD. PLEASE!!!

This is a great little comedy with a great cast. Murray's performance is fantastic. Geena Davis Randy Quaid and the late great Jason Robards are all wonderful in their roles. Tony Shalhoub (Monk) is also great in his limited role as an immigrant cab driver.
Bill Murray once mentioned that it was one of his favorite films and I agree. Someone needs to get on the ball and give this film the primo DVD treatment that it deserves.

A funny, yet often overlooked, movie...,
By When Grimm (Bill Murray) and his girlfriend Phyllis Potter (Geena Davis) decide to execute a daring mid-day bank robbery with their friend Loomis (Randy Quaid), the idea of getting away with the crime seems ludicrous to even the most casual of viewers. But in the end, it's the police department that comes off looking foolish. Dressed like a clown, Grimm enters a local New York bank branch just before its afternoon closing. Barricading the doors and other entryways, he rounds up all the customers and employees, locking them inside the bank vault. With the New York City police department surrounding the building, a line of communication is set up by the police to negotiate the release of hostages with Grimm. With hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash now in his possession, Grimm and his partners (who have managed to secretly infiltrate the bank themselves and aid in the robbery) must find a way to escape from the bank and elude the massive manpower waiting outside. But the three criminals have the perfect escape plan already in place. What they didn't plan for was facing the trials and travails of escaping New York City itself. Having pulled off the perfect crime and the perfect escape, they have hours of advance time to simply get on an airplane and flee the country. But the latter plan isn't so simple, and the three fugitives must race against a series of setbacks and pitfalls to avoid being caught by the police. Will they escape with all the cash? Will Grimm and Phyllis live happily ever after? One of Bill Murray's least-appreciated films, Quick Change is 90 minutes of pure fun. The film also solidifies Randy Quaid's role as one of the top supporting actors in Hollywood. With a plot that will keep your imagination rolling (perhaps you'll even consider a better way to rob a bank) and some great comic scenes and one-liners, this movie is a blast. By no means is Quick Change one of the greatest films of all time, but it is a memorable and fun one. And for that reason, Quick Change is a definite must-see film... The DVD Report

I've been waiting for this movie to come out on DVD to ad to my collection. Again, if you like Bill Murray you'll like this movie. Also, Randy Quaid is hilarious. Murphys Law at it's best! Cracks me up just thinking about it!

Quick Change is one of my all time favorite movies. It just keeps getting funnier and funnier as it goes along! Anyone who has ever gotten lost - particularly in NYC has to see this one. The cast (Bill Murray, Geena Davis, and Randy Quaid) play so well off each other. It's a genuinely clever plot as well. If you haven't seen it, buy it NOW!-JML

Bill Murray's best....and most underrated,
Even if you are a Bill Murray hater, and there are plenty of them out there, you will be won over by this vastly underrated epic, that's right, epic, relatively unknown comedy. Along with Murray (who does give a great performance) Randy Quaid are Jason Robards are excellent in supporting roles. In addition, bit parts played by Tony Shaloub (Monk) as the non-english speaking Taxi driver and Philip Bosco as the Anal-retentive bus driver are absolutely priceless. SEE THIS MOVIE
