Review

"A perfectly hard-boiled egg had eluded me...that is until I tried Douglas's method. Even Martha Stewart didn't get me to fluffy hard-boiled yolks, so that tip alone makes this book worth the price of admission for me!" - L.M. Perk

"This book has some really great recipes. I like that a lot of them contain lots of veggies, something easy to overlook for anyone, low-carber or not, at breakfast." - Laura S

"This book is not only filled with great recipes that sound delicious, it is also filled with great cooking tips." - Tisha S

"The recipes are easy, fast, and appealing to my whole family. And for someone like me, who hates to cook, 'easy' is very important!" - Five Kids

"This book is a clear, well-written guide to creating a wonderful variety of delicious, healthy breakfasts, and is special because it's like having the author there with you to help, encouraging you as you execute the recipes, almost like a good friend." - Fred Harris

I've been low-carbing off and on (mostly on) for many years. A basic bacon-and-eggs breakfast has always been an easy option, and although I love it, I do sometimes wish I could find other favourites. I've never bought a cookbook on the Kindle, so this was a first for me, but I thought it was a good opportunity to see if I could expand my breakfast options. Because I can enlarge the font on the Kindle, I'll be able to read the recipe easily when I glance over at it quickly, which I think it will make following recipes easier.

This book has some really great recipes. I like that a lot of them contain lots of veggies, something easy to overlook for anyone, low-carber or not, at breakfast. Douglas also shares a number of techniques for cooking the basic ingredients - how to boil the perfect egg, for example, or how to make an omelette, that less experienced cooks will find useful.

All of the recipes contain a complete nutritional breakdown (not just the carb count), which is helpful for people watching calories as well as carbs. There are recipes with varying carb counts that will fit a wide range of low carb eating plans - I really like the inclusion of a few recipes with sweet potato, and the smoothie recipes. There's even a recipe for homemade breakfast sausage, which is so much tastier than (and just as easy as) the store-bought stuff!

I don't follow a strict low carb diet; however, I've found these recipes to be an excellent way to start my day. It's safe to assume you're not going to get those five servings of veggies in if you don't start at breakfast, so it's great to see such a focus on vegetables in a breakfast cookbook. We all know that mornings are a hectic time, but these tasty recipes often allow you to multi-task by using your oven to make breakfast while you shower, get the kids up, or whatever your morning routine requires.

I also really appreciate the kitchen tips and tricks that Douglas sprinkles throughout the book. I'm a pretty good home cook, but truthfully, a perfectly hard-boiled egg had eluded me...that is until I tried Douglas's method. Even Martha Stewart didn't get me to fluffy hard-boiled yolks, so that tip alone makes this book worth the price of admission for me!

Whether you're making a smoothie to take for the road, a healthful sit down weekday breakfast, or an elegant weekend brunch, this book has you covered.

I just received my first eBook and am excited about trying Lisa's Recipes. Having never been a Breakfast Lover, quite frankly I am bored to tears with my normal repertoire. Scanning my new 25 Quick & Easy Low-Carb Breakfast Recipes eBook has me anxious to give these enticing new ideas a try. Most important to me is the use of normal ingredients, things I already have in my kitchen. My only problem now is deciding which recipe to try first!

Disclaimer: I love breakfast and breakfast foods. In fact, my ideal restaurant would serve breakfast any time.

Nevertheless, as a long-time low-carber, the basic bacon-and-eggs can get a little dull and make even me yearn for the frozen waffles that have been sitting desiccated in my freezer for the past five years! Thank goodness for Lisa Douglas's new collection of low carb breakfast recipes! First of all, the author's tone is friendly but not gushing! I hate authors that gush, those Food Network wannabes! Douglas has written recipes in a clear, easy-to-follow format. Her basic recipes for making the perfect omelet and perfect hardboiled eggs will work for those less experienced in the kitchen as well as those of us wanting to try something simpler and new.

Speaking of new: love the Sweet Potato Omelet and the Egg and Sausage Muffins (this latter an egg & sausage mixture baked in muffin tins--no muffin actually needed).

I would definitely recommend this book for low-carb dieters and even those watching their calorie count. Douglas provides calorie as well as carb count for each recipe. For my fellow breakfast lovers of any persuasion, this is a perfect book of quick and easy, but most of all delicious recipes. Dig in!

at a first glance, this recipe book looks very nice and is well formatted. It also has an interactive TOC.

Some of the smoothies have 20g or even up to 28g of carbs, that's not thaaat low carb anymore, but ok.

The instructions of the recipe for the "Wake You Up Smoothie" ask to "pulse all the ingredients except the berries" - only that the list of ingredients doesn't contain any berries. That's rather disappointing.

As a mother of five, I'm always interested in finding recipes that will not only appeal to my whole family, but are fast and easy to use. This is the first cook book I know I'll actually turn to again and again. The recipes are easy, fast, and appealing to my whole family. And for someone like me, who hates to cook, 'easy' is very important! I'm thrilled to finally have a cook book I'll not only use, but one which helps me with the 'most important meal' of the day:)

Texan Heuvos Rancheros!! YES!! I have been craving heuvos rancheros for weeks and keep skipping them because of the tortilla's. Lisa's creativity and clear instructions have put me on the way to enjoying a delicious treat that I had given up.

Simply cannot wait to try her suggestions for sweet potatoes which are a nutrient dense staple in my families diet...just so glad I found this little treasure trove of fresh idea's. Thank you Lisa Douglas!
