5.0 out of 5 stars Its amazing!, August 8, 2000

This review is from: Quick & Easy Solutions to Marker Techniques: Maka Ni Yoru Dezain Suketchi (Paperback)
I've been reading many books that could help me on how to make my drawing better. But finally, I found all the great techniques and ideas on this one book. Its shows me what to do and how to apply the material step by step. Its not only shows me how to make the most of my markers, but its also gave me the ideas to make myself more open to use or mix it with other media. Its taught me that a simple thing could be a very usefull tool to make a great presentation drawing. After reading this book, now I feels like making a presentation drawing is not a problem at all. Its amazing how this book shows me to change my drawing into more professional looking with an easy and interesting way. I think this book will help many Industrial design students who's having a problem with presentation drawing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yoshiharu is a Marker Master, December 9, 2010

This review is from: Quick & Easy Solutions to Marker Techniques: Maka Ni Yoru Dezain Suketchi (Paperback)
I'm in my mid-30s and have dabbled in all sorts of media. I've rekindled my love for marker illustrations primarily because the materials needed are so portable. No water cups or brushes to bring and rinse, no palettes, no cleaning!! Most of my stuff is done at a Starbucks in fact. Recently, I've been looking for other sources to enhance what I already do and to simply see what artists of the past have already done with markers. I've purchased almost ALL of the marker rendering books on Amazon. All are dated, mainly because everyone uses Photoshop and Painter to do comps nowadays. In one of many Amazon shipments was Yoshiharu Shimizu's book entitled Creative Marker Techniques: In Combination With Mixed Media and it...WAS...EXCELLENT! The covers of all 3 of his books speak for themselves. Markers were primarily used to QUICKLY and ROUGHLY illustrate an idea/concept. As a result, ALL of the marker rendering books display ONLY "rough" applications of the medium. Yoshiharu Shimizu is the ONLY author who clearly demonstrates a "cleaned up" marker illustration. Certain materials and techniques are required if you want to achieve a finished look. Get THIS book and his other three books if you want to step up your marker illustrations. The subject matter is dated but get the book for the valuable techniques to do your own stuff. His books tend to be bilingual but ask your sellers to make certain they include English text.
