The clamping action gets weaker after about 1.5" of opening.
Otherwise, it's inexpensive and works great.

We purchased this clamp to hold our trash can lid closed outside to prevent animals from getting into our trash. It works great for this purpose, and we have additionally used it for some home improvement projects.

Pros:
- The flexible teeth to the clamp work very well on an angled surface
- It can easily be opened with one hand, but still has good clamping strength
- It has held up well with repeated use and withstands the elements outside

Cons:
- Does not have an option to lock the clamp in place once adjusted

I've had a box of these for quite a while and I'm always finding new uses for them. They are real handy to hold stop blocks on your radial arm saw fence, drill press fence and table saw miter gauge fence. I hold projects together during "dry assembly" and while tracing parts for reproduction. You can clip a note or plan on anything the jaw will stradle. Did I mention gluing? They're just a little too tight to use for a nose clamp when you're working around Ralph after he had those beans for lunch, but you should use a respirator, anyway.

I have several types of spring clamps and this 58300 takes the win in all categories

1: Clamp strength: It's impressive! I have pretty strong hands and it's not easy to squeeze it open with one hand. As other reviewers have said, the further it's open, the less clamping pressure is applied. If I was clamping anything over 2" I'd probably just go with standard clamps. Bottom-line, if you clamp these to your finger tips it's very painful.

2: Build material and quality: Top notch. I feel like these will last forever. They are plastic but there is no flex or twisting at all whatsoever. The spring is very heavy duty compared to other clamps and the rubberized gripping tips are the perfect material mixture for strength and grip.

3: Size: I have Irwin Quick-Grips that came in part of a larger set and I thought that's what I was ordering with these. It turned out that they were quite a bit larger than the ones I already owned. That said, the squared off rubber grips can clamp the smallest edges with ease.

If you're used to using the Auto-zone/Napa little tiny black clamps with the orange tips then you will be blown away by the power of these bad boys.

The wind took the sun shade off my grand daighters Radio Flyer wagon, it clamps on, and they sell no replacement clamps, so I bought this as a replacement, seem like it will do the job,

I was concerned that they might not provide enough pressure and the material would slip out of them, but that is definitely not the case. These are very much a heavy duty grip -- not suitable for items than might be deformed by pressure -- and the typical Irwin yellow tips that rotate to compensate for angle are a plus.
