1.0 out of 5 stars totally worthless
i'm sorry, but this may be the worst med-spanish dictionary ever done. the authors treat the reader as first-graders. i would definitely not recommend this as there are many other books which do a much better job.

5.0 out of 5 stars User Friendly Medical Spanish, January 1, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Quick Medical Spanish (Paperback)
This is a very user friendly book. It's key features are the following: 1. Pocket size so you can carry it around at work. 2. Organization follows same format as standard medical chart eg. Hx, PEx, Labs, Imaging, etc. 3. Short chapters so you can quickly find topic of interest 4. Outline format so you can quickly find topic of interest 5. Questions structured to elicit Yes/No answers to help you understand the patient's replies 6. Chapters on obtaining consent for procedures/surgeries 7. Chapters on important topics such as pediatric topics, obstetrics, emergency medicine 8. Pronunciation key adjacent to each phrase 9. Audiocassette 1 hour long covers introductory info and key topics 10. Concise guide that helps you step by step to get started with medical Spanish 11. The book was written by a physician and a medical social worker based on extensive experience working with Spanish speaking patients. The advice of physicians and nurses from multiple different medical fields was used to optimize practical usefulness of the book. 12. The book is designed for helping with the daily medical care of patients, but can also be used in a classroom setting

5.0 out of 5 stars I found this book to be extremely helpful, March 29, 2007
This review is from: Quick Medical Spanish (Paperback)
I bought Rogers' book so I would be better able to communicate with my Hispanic clients about their injuries and experience with the medical world. The text is straight forward and easy to learn. I am now proficient enough to talk to my clients about how they were injured and about what they are experiencing. I listened to the cassette in my car on my way to work and practiced at home. It really worked.

I have had a chance to read some of the above reviews and wonder what is wrong with these people. I don't consider a methodical systematic approach to learning a foreign language to be treating me like a first grader. I didn't speak Spanish when I started the book, now I can speak enough to ask people how I can help them.
