Editorial Reviews

A former motorcycle gang member, Gi-su now earns his living as a bike messenger. One day after making a delivery to an office building, he witnesses the building blow up. Never suspecting he could have anything to do with the disaster, he moves on to his next job which involves escorting a girl group singer, A-rom, to a TV station. As she puts his helmet on, a timer mechanism is triggered and a countdown clock appears. Gi-su gets a call from a stranger telling him that the helmet is booby-trapped and will blow up if he fails to make a series of deliveries within a fixed time limit. With the police hot on his trail, he races to complete the deliveries and stop the timer on the helmet.

Customer Reviews

The acting and music was good.

While this movie did have some great stunts; it was way too long of a movie with characters that I just did not care about at all.

South Korea has produced some of my favorite films - and QUICK is no exception.

I have loved this movie ever since I first watched it. Lee Min Ki is one of my favorite actors. Lee Min Ki is hilarious in this movie and the female Gang Ye-Won is definitely up there with him. This is the first movie I saw with Gang Ye-Won and I'm glad I did. Give this movie a shot. At the end of the movie you get to see behind the scenes with the actors doing stunts as well as the stunt doubles. This gives you a view into the danger of doing stunts for films too.

A hot stud on a fast motorcycle with a helmet rigged by a villain to extort the cyclist to do his bidding. Flakey girl puts on the helmet and both are stuck as the helmet is rigged to explode without a set time. Fast and furious chase scenes, but vapid acting from leads who do more sexy posing than acting. Entertaining in the vein of cashing in on hot pop stars of the moment. Hollywood does the same.

From JK Films, makers of popcorn action films such as "Tidal Wave" and "Sector 7″ are back again with the 2011 South Korean action comedy titled "Quick".

Directed by Beom-gu Cho ("Bar Legend") and written by Soo-jin Park, the film would star actor Min-ki Lee ("Romantic Island", "Oishii Man"), actress Ye-won Kang ("Tidal Wave", "Hello Ghost") and actor In-kwon Kim ("Tidal Wave", "My Wife is a Gangster 2″).

The film did well in South Korea and was released in the U.S. via Blu-ray and DVD courtesy of Shout! Factory and CJ Entertainment in Sept. 2012.

VIDEO:

"Quick" is presented in 1080p High Definition (Anamorphic Widescreen). If there is one thing I an say about "Quick" is that the film looks beautiful, stylish and slick! Featuring warm to cool colors, there is a good amount of tweaking to the overall video to showcase colors. Where skintones look very sharp, black levels are nice and deep and for the most part, everything looks very cool on HD. During explosions and other scenes where there are bright orange or yellows, I didn't notice any banding or problematic video issues.

AUDIO & SUBTITLES:

"Quick" is presented in Korean DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, Korean Dolby Digital 5.1 and English Dolby Digital 5.1. For my viewing, I watched the film with its original Korean lossless track (I can't comment on the English dub, but for those who enjoy English dub on Asian live-action films, the option is available).

As one can expect from an action film, especially one with a lot of explosions and chaos on the streets, the film does a great job of utilizing the surround channels. From the motorcycle revving to countless number of explosions to mangled metal as cars crashed into cars, the lossless soundtrack is immersive.

This is a pretty good Korean movie. I have seen much better but still enjoyed the action scenes. I definitely recommend this movie!

South Korea has produced some of my favorite films - and QUICK is no exception. If you turn down watching some of these films, even this one, due to subtitles or the film being foreign, you're seriously missing out. 'Quick' in particular is so much fun, a pure adrenaline ride that will also make you laugh; it's the perfect blend of action, mixed with comedy in all the right places.

Han Gi-soo is a former motorcycle gang member who now works as a bike messenger on his BMW bike, who one day delivers a small package to an office ... and, moments later, barely escapes with his life when that very office is blown to bits via a bomb. It never occurs to Han that the bomb was in the very package he delivered, but when he takes a last-minute job to pick up a female Korean pop music star, rushing her to meet with corporate sponsors, not only does Han realize the young gal is his former girlfriend ... but the girl, insisting upon wearing the one and only helmet Han has for safety, puts it on and triggers a bomb that will go off the moment the helmet is removed.

What follows is a sadistic madman who phones Han, letting him know that the helmet and several bombs have been placed on Han's motorcycle - and that if Han doesn't follow all instructions, given only 30 minutes each to deliver each of the packages (bombs) to where the bad guy directs him, the helmet will blow up.

What follows are some outrageously awesome bike rides/stunts, as the cops quickly identify Han as the bomber and begin hunting him down.
