I was delighted to see that Amazon had copies of quick & easy patchwork on the sewing machine. I took quuilting classes from the author, using this book and throughout the years, I have returned to it often. From time to time, I've lost a template. I now have a complete set again. This book is very good for a beginning quilter or someone who just needs to have templates. I would very much recommend this book for someone interested in quilting the classic blocks.

If read carefully, the Techniques for Machine Piecing section,..can be transforming to a machine piecer who may have been struggling..

also..
the templates are Absolutely Perfectly Accurate...most dependable...which is not true re: templates in most other quilting books!

This may seem to be an "old" book...but the techniques were groundbreaking at the time...and still hold true...WITHOUT the need for "new" math or weird sewing...or the purchase of a ton of new sewing "notions"..

Working sewing machine(that doesn't even have to back up)...SHARP scissors that can cut at least 8 layers at a time.....THESE are the main tools.

Strongly suggest the reader/quilter follow exactly the instructions re; making the
templates...p.5, #2..and use the medium weight illustration board that is suggested ... this is NOT shirt cardboard or poster board...#301 Medium Weight Illustration board is the standard,found at any art supply store or college bookstore....not real easy to cut...but the templates will be lifetime.,.

These heavy templates and the sharp scissors make the Layered Cutting technique (#3..p.5) work exactly as described.

P.S..I am one of the co-authors...Suzzy Chalfant Payne...my quilting partner and I have taught our methods (these plus many others) to 1000's of our quilting students...and have had such fun doing it!!!
