I looked at many small world map books before deciding on this one and I'm thrilled. I keep it at my desk to refresh my memory when reading history books, or listening to news on the radio. There are larger maps to give a good overview, then "zoomed" pages to give a closer look at a particular area. Obviously a book this size will not contain detailed maps of a small country. If you are seeking that kind of information you need a larger atlas.

With colleagues I have taught the first term of a huge (800-student) freshman college world-civ class each year for the last twenty years or so. We have always assigned a reference atlas, and although we have tried various ones, this is the book we keep coming back to. It is cheap, indexed, up to date (revised pretty much constantly, although without always changing the ISBN), and sufficiently detailed to be consistently handy. One can always wish for more --it'd be nice if it showed Indian states and made Chinese provinces clearer, for example-- but in these days when it is easy to get additional detail as needed from the Internet, a small, easily grabbed first reference is more important. When we have tried smaller atlases the detail was inadequate. Larger ones seemed wasted because they went beyond most of our needs. This one has always been pretty much "just right."

Roughly half the space in this atlas is devoted to domestic USA maps. In purchasing the "World Atlas" I was looking for much more detail of the foreign nations than is provided here in the space allocated. Many cities and towns in the Middle East, for example, are not even identified.

For the price of this atlas, I recommend it, only thing is that it could be a little larger, other than that.....great buy. Also purchased one for my Mother and she has enjoyed looking up things.

I use the manual for our class on Geography. I like the manual except not very many supply around and it is hard to get. We might have to find something else to replace it if we continue to have shortage of this version.

This atlas is a perfect reference. Updated and easy to use with all information needed to be informed about country locations. It's lean, I like that it doesn't take up much space. I was very pleased when I received it.

Nice small atlas...we punched holes in it and my son takes it to his Geography class

This is just what I needed for a course I'm teaching. Lots of information in a compact form. Sometimes too compact, I need a magnifying glass for some maps, but it does the job.
