The 2nd edition of ACLS Quick Review Study Guide offers a complete, concise overview of ACLS (advanced cardiovascular life support), acute coronary syndromes, and acute stroke. Full-color throughout, it has been updated to reflect the new 2000 guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care. It features easy-to-access information with Stop and Review quizzes in each chapter and a comprehensive pre-test and post-test. Plus, the updated 2nd edition now includes a new chapter on The ABCDs of Emergency Cardiac Care, a new chapter on Acute Ischemic Stroke, and an expanded chapter on Airway Management. An all-new section of case presentations is also included, based on the 10 core algorithms of emergency cardiovascular care. 5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book for your ACLS class!, November 18, 2002
This review is from: ACLS Quick Review Study Guide, Second Edition (Paperback)
I am an RN and I recently passed the ACLS course given at my hospital. It was a two day course that was more of an overview of the information than a teaching session. I work on a floor with very sick patients, but we rarely have a code situation. I wanted to take ACLS in order to feel more comfortable when a code does take place. If I had not done as much preparation before the course as I did, I doubt I would have passed. This book helped me immensely to prepare for the class and understand all the information needed. Deffinately get this book before the classes take place, because there is so much information in the study guide and you don't want to go into information overload. As far as I know, this book contains the most up to date information from the ACLS authorities. Get this book and Dale Dubin's "Rapid Interpretation of EKGs" for your next ACLS course, especially if it is the first time you're taking it. Good Luck!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than the AHA book, September 3, 2002

This review is from: ACLS Quick Review Study Guide, Second Edition (Paperback)
I am an ACLS and ACLS-EP instructor and highly recommend this book. Much more details than the AHA textbook, has an index, and is well written. Actually has a picture of WPW arrythmias, discusses Cardiac Glycosides as well as other things that an effective clinician needs to know. Honestly, if the AHA would let us, I would use this as the text instead of the official one. Unlike the official text this one is clear, has EKG's, and is helpful. If you are teaching ACLS this text is a MUST. If you are taking, this text is extremely helpful. If you have this, and read this, you will do much better than the rest of the class when it is time to test.
If I could give this more than 5 stars, I would give it a 7. (The AHA textbook is a 2)

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: ACLS Quick Review Study Guide, Second Edition (Paperback)
I bought this book because the AHA book just didn't have enough info for me. This book is very easy to read and gives tons of information which really helps put the total ACLS picture together. If you plan on taking ACLS or just want to know more about the hear this is a great book to own.
