Practical Tool for Biblical Counseling,
By
This review is from: Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling (Spiral-bound)
The third edition of "The Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling" uses the NIV, organizing pertinent passages according to topics useful for pastors, counselors, and lay people in helping others to grow spiritually. With this well-organized tools, spiritual friends can develop the art of scriptural exploration where they explore with their "counselees" how a specific passage relates to their lives. They can also use biblical "trialogues" in which the counselor, counselee, and the Holy Spirit through God's Word form a three-way spiritual relationship. John Kruis has produced a must-use volume.
Reviewer: Bob Kellemen, Ph.D., is the author of "Spiritual Friends," "Soul Physicians," "Biblical Psychology," "Martin Luther's Pastoral Counseling," and "Beyond the Suffering: The Story of African American Soul Care and Spiritual Direction."

The Quick Scripture Reference For Counseling is a excellent book. I carry this book with me every were I go. When things go wrong at work,or in my personal life, or just life's problems in general, I simply pull out this quick reference guide. Locate the subject that applies to the giving situation that I'm currently experiencing at that time and things always turn out for the better. To me it's God's way of providing me guidance and advise through life's various situations.

A counselors good friend!,
This review is from: Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling (Paperback)
Excellent book, just about every subject has been covered and the scriptures are appropriate to the matters. This item is a must have for pastors and youth pastors/workers. I also recommend this for ministers that are looking for a closing to their sermons. This can help bring home the objective when you are getting ready to sum up your sermons.

This is a book that Christians of all walks of life need. I am not a Christian counselor (yet), but I have used this book on several occasions. It provides a concise list of Scripture on a variety of subjects. I highly recommend it to anyone who believes the Word of God is applicable to life as we are living it today!

Excellent Camp Counselor Reference,

This review is from: Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling (Spiral-bound)
This book is an excellent resource for easily looking up verses pertaining to a particular topic. I have used it numerous times during the summers I was a camp counselor and it proved most useful. Sometimes I use it to focus on a particular topic in my own personal devotions. I try to give a copy of this book to prospective counselors in my college ministry.

This review is from: Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling (Spiral-bound)
This is counseling aid by Scripture, arranged logically by subjects to be addressed. Not only is it easy to use, but I found myself going through it as a daily devotional, for my own benefit and understanding, and I keep a copy in my guest room. There are no "opinions" or theories in this guide, just God's word in a simple format for quick reference related to various subjects. For example, in the section on Affliction, Discipline, Chastisement, Trials, there are 25 related topic statements, one of which is "Not all affliction is for specific sins. God often sends affliction to purify and strengthen our faith, for his glory." Then passages I Peter 1:6-7 and John 9:1-3 are written out, that the reader may see God's word on this. The book covers about 80 subjects, including Anger, Brooding, Contentment, Death, Depression, Example, Friendships, Hope, Leading a Person to Christ, Loving God, Priorities, Resentment, Training Children, Waiting on the Lord, Warnings, Youth, again all with multiple examples and scriptures for help. The Introduction in the volume states that it "is designed especially to help God's people use the Scriptures more effectively in their counseling ministries." I highly recommend the Quick Scripture Reference for Counseling, by John G. Kruis. |
