I am a novice at creating stars so I needed very clear, basic steps I could use to create the stars using diamond shapes. Quick Star Quilts has
great variations on an old shape. The directions are very clear and the
photos are especially appropriate to the steps taken to create the product.

I am a professional quilter (ie, I make my living from quilting, as does Jan Krentz). And I write patterns for a living and have for 16 years. I am always impressed with the quality of the work of Jan Krentz. Her patterns are easy to follow, the templates FIT together, and the choice of colors in the various projects make me happy just looking at them. I don't buy many quilting books, but I knew I had to have this one because I already have designed and sewn my own Carpenter's Wheel, Snow Crystals, Lemoyne Star quilts and do it the same way as Jan. (that's what I had to see.) I would recommend this book to ANY AND ALL quilters who are looking for a quick path to sewing these traditional blocks with accuracy and precision (do those two words mean the same thing? - yikes!) She makes the otherwise difficult blocks achievable to all. Great step by step illustrated lessons, great variety, quite a few patterns. I love it!

Quick Star Quilts and Beyond is another fabulous publication from C&T Publishing and Jan Krentz. There are 20 terrific projects, along with lots of ideas and techniques for creating that special, unique one-of-a-kind quilt.

Jan shows some great time saving techniques for cutting and piecing together with a huge photo gallery of quilts by very well known quilters. There's something really special about star quilts and Jan has captured many ideas for star quilts, and turned them on their head and ended up with a whole new concept in star piecing.

If you've been looking for a publication that simply explains geometric components such as 45 degree diamonds, quarter diamonds and half diamonds, this is the book for you. It needs to be noted that Diamond Rulers are used with Rotary cutting instructions.

C&T Publishing provided this review copy to me free of charge.

There are enough projects in this book to challenge the beginner and the advanced quilter.
The first part of the book goes through color selection, cutting and construction techniques.
There are lots of pictures and diagrams for each project to help us be successful.
I haven't made anything yet, but plan to make at least one before year end.
I recommend this book to anyone interested in making stars.

Since receiving the book, I've made three quilt tops and still amazed at how fast it was to complete a top. The book arrived in new condition as advertised and received the book two days before the eta from the email. I have now had to go and buy more fabric, for I am going to attempt a king size Lone Star. Wish me luck......

If I had known it required yet again a new ruler, I would not have purchased the book.
