These are some great flash cards. You get 1000 for such a small price!

I'm a beginner learning Spanish and have found these cards very helpful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of cards, March 18, 2008
This review is from: Quick Study-Spanish Vocabulary Flash Cards-1000 cards (Quickstudy (Flash Cards)) (Cards)
These cards have been useful. When I first got them I sorted them according to the catagories I needed them to be for class. They come group in catagories such as financial, family etc. What I found to be wasteful of the 1000 is that there were duplicates under the different catagories. Now I understand that certain words may hold different meanings or uses but in this box set they were duplicated with the same meaning. But its still not a bad product for the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, April 27, 2008
This review is from: Quick Study-Spanish Vocabulary Flash Cards-1000 cards (Quickstudy (Flash Cards)) (Cards)
These flash cards were extremely useful to me for learning vocabulary. They come in categories such as verbs, adjectives, things around the house, etc. They are quality flashcards and include the article (el or la) for Spanish nouns. When you consider the price, this is a great deal and a very easy way to boost your vocabulary.

I am taking a trip abroad and wanted to brush up on vocabulary that might have fallen by the wayside. There are quite a few of these cards in the box and they are categorized (colors, numbers, etc). The cards are really too basic for someone who has had any background in Spanish (It was one of my majors in college). They are meant for someone who has probably learned the sounds of the letters and needs to quickly memorize a lot of vocab for tests. Really, these would be perfect for a high school Spanish I class or the first half of a college Spanish I class. The card stock is decent and you can take them with you places without worrying about bending them too badly. It's important to note, however, that you get the word and the English translation and that is it. There are no sentences to help you see how the word is used. I find that even for beginners this is useful. Again, very basic vocab with these cards. While these are words every aspiring Spanish speaker should know, don't expect to go traveling with what is in this set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Set of Flash Cards, August 1, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've taken a conversational Spanish class through a local community college. There, I learned pronunciation, basic phrases, simple conversations, some conjugation, and how to piece together sentences. Next, I needed to expand my vocabulary. I like the online sites, they are helpful, but I wanted just vocabulary drilling, so I bought these.

Pro
- They chose very common words for their 1000 cards. If you learn these, you will be able to get by very well.
- There are 18 categories, clearly and logically labeled.
- The cards in each category are in alphabetical order by English word (except for numbers and time). If you want to look up a word, this makes it quick and easy.
- Masculine and feminine articles and endings are included on applicable words. Card front: "first". Card back: "el/la primero/a"
- Minorly, the word on the back is printed so that it's right side up when you flip the card up side down to read the translation. Nice touch.

Con
- The verbs have no conjugation information, just the root word. It would help, at the least, to say if it's a regular or irregular verb.
- The verbs are listed alphabetically instead of being grouped first by verb ending and then sorted alphabetically.
- The cards in each category are in alphabetical order by English word (except for numbers and time). I add this in both pro and con. I'd rather they sorted words in a way that made them easier to memorize, not in a way that made them easier to look up. I'll use a dictionary for looking up words.
- Minorly, the box is very tight for all the cards. You have to leave cards out if you plan to pull cards in and out of it.

So, while these cards will not teach you how to speak Spanish, they are a very good resource for anyone who speaks a little Spanish and wants to expand his vocabulary.

$5.95 for 1,000 cards? You can't pass by this price.

The cards may not be the best in the world; they're very basic with the English on one side and the Spanish on another. No example sentences, etc. Also there are some repeats, since the cards are broken up into categories.

But keep them on the table next to the TV and go through a few during commercials and I'm sure it will help your vocabulary.

3.0 out of 5 stars Somewhat difficult to use, February 15, 2010

These cards are arranged in the following groups: Numbers, Clothes, Bank, Greetings, Travel, Directions, Time, Weather, Habitat, Family/Titles, Studies/Workplace, Sports/Entertainment, Food/Restaurant/Drink, Body/Health, Questions, Verbs, Adverbs, Adjectives (in that order).
If you are trying to use them to learn specific vocabulary words to go with a course of study, you will have to search them to find the cards you need, and many will not be there. There are no pronouns for instance. The verb cards give you only the infinitive, and are therefore fairly useless- use the book "501 Spanish Verbs" for this. These cards are exactly the size of a standard business card- 2" by 3 1/2". To cope with the missing cards, I am using blank business cards and creating my own flash cards to go with the ones from this set that I am using. It would probably be just as easy to make all of them yourself, using blank business cards. They are too small to be used by a teacher in the classroom.

Perfect ! These cards are great to travel with. I have a Visual Link Computer program I love but it is not a pocket portable teaching tool LIKE THESE CARDS...I remembered in grammar school that we learned alot from flash cards ! They still work....They are organized by section - like: travel, verbs, food, numbers and such. So on a recent trip I picked out a small section and took them with me in my pocket on the airplane. Easy to pull out of my pocket in line, on the plane or in a car and play the memory game all by myself - anytime, anywhere. My Spanish is growing by leaps and bounds. I live in a small Casa in Baja for 6 months a year and am determined to learn the language to an easily conversational level and I am now well on my way. Did I mention I Love the cards?

4.0 out of 5 stars No phonetics... but great range, June 10, 2009
By
This review is from: Quick Study-Spanish Vocabulary Flash Cards-1000 cards (Quickstudy (Flash Cards)) (Cards)
The range is consistent for what a High School Spanish I to Spanish II student would need to know. I like the size and the set-up and recommend studying 30 or fewer at a time.

I do deduct one star for lack of phonetic spelling. Students learning words on their own often mispronounce them. For high schoolers working on new vocab, this is pretty important. Other than that, they are a good set, along with Sparknotes Spanish Flash Cards (those are only available at B&N, though, and a teeny bit cheaper.)

For younger students (or a true beginner) I would recommend something with pictures instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful for the Spanish Language Learner, August 27, 2010
This review is from: Quick Study-Spanish Vocabulary Flash Cards-1000 cards (Quickstudy (Flash Cards)) (Cards)
This bumper pack of 1000 handy flash cards provide a fun and fast way to learn key vocabulary. Flash cards work by testing your free recall - in other words your ability to remember a definition or translation on cue. With no context around them, such as you might find in a textbook or example, you are forced to find the correct meaning for each word independently, which is a strong indicator of just how well you have learned the words.

The Quick Study-Spanish Vocabulary Flash Cards come in a conveniently portable box, with the cards is divided into easy to use subject areas such as finance, weather and family. Unlike some other flash cards, this set includes the correct article before each Spanish noun, letting you learn whether to use "el" or "la" at the same time you learn the word. The vocabulary is a nice, varied mix of a typical beginners standard and will provide a good range of everyday, useful words for most students. Some basic verbs are also included, rounding out the information that you learn.

The convenient size of the box makes these flash cards ideal for carrying with you to look at anytime you have a few spare moments. It can be surprising just how much you learn from testing yourself with a few cards each day. If you don't want to carry the full box, slip a few into your wallet or pocket to review while waiting in line, on hold on a call, or during commercial breaks while you watch your favorite TV show.

Although they lack pronunciation tips, examples of usage or pictures these flash cards are great value for money, and are a handy addition to your repertoire of language learning study aids. Ideal for beginners to improve their general vocabulary!

In closing my review of this product, I'd like to share with you the three Amazon products that I have found most helpful in my pursuit to learn Spanish. If you are truly serious about achieving fluency, I'd recommend getting all 3 of them if you can afford it.

1. Lights, Camera, Spanish (Book + DVD): Learn Conversational Spanish by Watching a Romantic Adventure This is actually a 90 minute movie for Spanish-language learners. It gives the option to watch the movie with subtitles but I'd recommend not using them to improve your Spanish. This "movie" also includes a workbook so that you can reinforce the Spanish vocabulary words and phrases from the film. The workbook also has lots of exercises to keep you engaged in the film. But be prepared to hear Chilean accents. Although pleasant to the ear, the accents from Chile are very different from most Latin American accents.

2. Verbarrator Version 1.1 (Windows Version) This software replaces the traditional verb conjugation books and makes learning how to conjugate Spanish verbs an interactive and fun activity. This should be a required resource for anyone who wants to improve their ability to conjugate Spanish verbs. Especially anyone who is challenged by the drudgery of learning how to conjugate Spanish verbs and who is looking for a new way to make learning how to conjugate Spanish verbs an easy and fun activity

3. Diccionario esencial de la lengua espanola de la Real Academia Espanola (Spanish Edition) If you are really serious about speaking the language fluently, then at some point you will need to replace your Spanish-English dictionary and get a pure Spanish dictionary with both the vocabulary words and the definitions entirely in Spanish. I use this one mainly because it was highly-recommended by a friend from Spain who teaches Spanish. According to him, this is the "standard" among university level Spanish professors.
