5.0 out of 5 stars Good, quick workout
This is my first Tamilee Webb DVD, and I have to say, I really like this one. I have Denise Austin and the Crunch Pilates DVDs that I love and use regularly, but this one I'm sure to use daily. It's just so easy, and Tamilee is encouraging without being annoying, which I can't stand.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not enough variation
Although the video was easy to follow, there was no variation between the segments. The 10 minute segments were basically the same. I was looking for a quick video that I can do in the morning but it seemed that I spent most of the time warming up and stretching and then continuing with the same moves. If you are at all experienced and are looking for a quick targeted...

The DVD itself is very barebones, just Tamilee on a set with a mat, some weights, and some plants on the background. There's not jumping around, and all you need are a mat, or your carpet, and some 2, 5, or 10 pound weights. I'd guess that if you're a beginner, you could do this DVD for a long time, and if you're more advanced you'll get plenty of use by increasing the amount of weight you use.

Tamilee gives excellent instruction, and is very careful to educate you on proper form and the muscles being used. There's little room for boredom because once you begin to get used to one exercise Tamilee moves on to the next.

I'd recommend this video, esp. for those who bore easily, and want to tone up without hours lifting everyday. I do three segments, but you can easily do more or less depending on your schedule.

4.0 out of 5 stars A little embarrassed to admit, but..., July 22, 2006

This review is from: Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel (DVD)
I bought this DVD.

I'm usually a yoga/Pilates/gym sort of person, and never imagined doing a home workout video. Especially one that's Fill-in-the-Blank "...of Steel." Especially led by someone with biggish hair named "Tamilee." I know it, I've been a snob.

But then I saw "Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel" in a $1 bin, and thought: what the heck?

It's consists of 6 15-minute workouts that cover abs, arms, glutes, and all parts of the legs.

Some reviewers here have sort of slammed it, but I think it's really quite good!

As it turns out, I truly like Tammilee! She is encouraging in a gentle way, and not manic or overly in-your-face. She has a nice voice (and her hair isn't even that high!). She provides variations on most movements, according to your strength- and fitness-level, and moves along at a good pace--not too fast, not too slow--and helps you set realistic expectations for yourself.

The workouts are bite-sized, so you can do 1, or 3, or 6, or whatever you want. You will benefit whatever you choose.

I found the length of the repetitions to be just right--so you do an exercise and move onto something else, providing variety, but not gallopping along so fast you feel lost.

Now maybe I liked it as much as I did because I've never done an at-home exercise video before, but there you have it. In my opinion, it provides a genuinely solid workout!

It may be too easy for some people, given what some of the reviews say, but I'm already in good shape and it still provides challenge--and is just SO easy to pop into the DVD player and do a couple of quick routines! Full disclosure: on one exercise I started out doing more than I should have, and had to ratchet back to one of the easier modification she recommends. I was impressed!

If we could give half-stars I'd give it ***1/2, but since we can't I'm rounding up to 4.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really like it, December 13, 2005
This review is from: Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel (DVD)
This DVD has two parts broken down into three workouts each. Each individual workout has warm-up, stretch, exercise, and stretch. If you don't have a lot of time, or are not very motivated, a 15 min segment would probably fit your needs well. I combined the three arms and ab segments into a single workout and the three lower body into a single work out. I added ankle weights to the lower body segments. I got a GREAT workout and post-workout burn. Tamilee is a great motivator and she explains things VERY well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simple no-nonsense program -- recommended for beginners (but not intense enough for intermed-adv), March 13, 2007

This review refers to the ARMS/ABS sections (I haven't done the other part yet)

This is definitely not enough of a workout on it's own. You'll either need to do several segments in a row or add a segment to another workout you do. The only problem is that each of the arm segments starts with a ~min "warmup"(marching in place, step side & stretching), so if you really are doing other workouts, the "warmup" is a waste of time trying to fwd past it to get to the main part of the workout.

In the arms video DURING the main workout you're forced to listen to her annoying lecture about fattiness and body types. She definitely looses stars for this.

ARMS/Abs 1 1 (this is a good, no frills video on basic weighlifting exercises using handweights. The instructor gives clear cues and has decent form. If you are looking for similar but either more advanced or a different variety of moves, I would recommend the videos from The Firm series available at FirmDirect or Amazon -- I prefer the older firm videos that don't use the fancy box/step.)

1st 4min is the copyright warning & warmup/stretching
bicep curl, lat row, tricep kickback & overhead extention, lateral delt flies.
Crunch & pelvic tilt combo, Oblique twists.

ARMS/Abs 2
4min warmup/stretching
bicep curls, french press, diagonal lift & overhead press
upper crunch, lower ab contraction, crunch+oblique combo

ARMS/Abs 3
Warmup/stretch
Tricept kickback + bicep curls. Overhead press. Flies. Bicep curls.
Upper & lower crunches with legs straight up. Oblique twist. Crunch with legs extended.

BUNS

INNER/OUTER THIGHTS

HIPS, THIGHS, CALVES

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorites!, February 5, 2007
This review is from: Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel (DVD)
I can't tell you how many of these type workout video's I have ordered & they just sit on my shelf. I absolutley LOVE this one! The 15 minutes go by so fast & TamiLee is not an animated airhead like most instructors! She explaines things as you go along...everythink is very easy, even my 63 year old Mom could keep up. I get up EVERY morning now at 5:00 AM & workout to this video & feel great the rest of the day! And it's easy! Thanks Tamilee for at last a great toning & strengthening workout!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel ~ Tamilee Rocks Again!, November 28, 2006
This review is from: Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel (DVD)
I have been working out with Tamilee Webb and the Buns of Steel series for many years. This DVD is awesome! It packs a lot of punch in the 15 minute sessions that you can either do a different section each day if short on time, or do like me and do all 3 of one section per day to max out your potential. I will alternate between the abs/arms one day and the lower body section the next. If you follow her instructions for safe exercise, you'll see results without injuring yourself. I can definitely notice a difference and her fun attitude makes it all the more pleasant, even while she's killing you!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, May 12, 2007
This review is from: Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel (DVD)
This is a quick and to the point exercise DVD for arms, abs, and lower body. I'll admit so far I haven't done the lower body segments at all but the arms/abs segments are great! I do the arm segments just about everyday; number 2 is my favorite. In the abs segments at first it can difficult following her direction, because it's hard to watch her and perform the move at the same time, but once you get the moves down it goes smoothly. I've really enjoyed the DVD and aside from the 80s "Let's Get Physical" feel of her attire and the music its pretty good!

5.0 out of 5 stars Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel, March 31, 2007
This review is from: Quick Toning: Abs, Arms & Lower Body of Steel (DVD)
Dont' let the title fool you that you will look like a body builder. However, you will tone up flabby arms, gut, thighs , and legs, though. Only if you add ankle and wrist weights or dumb-bells will you look like a body builder. Though these are 15 minute workouts, you will break a sweat. Tammi looks simply great at her age and without breast implants and a naturally curvy rear end that is toned and not dragging. Great buy.

I was disappointed. I lost my old tape which had the same title and it had cardio intervals (with step) so it was an entire workout - not just very short disjointed segments of arms.
