A likeable (albeit arguably not the very best available) "beginners guide",

This review is from: Quick-start Guide to Pocket Billiards: World-champion Techniques for Improving Your Game (Paperback)
This is sort of a "middle-of-the-road-quality," 150-page guide for beginners. Its many black-and-white illustrations noteworthily include some pleasing (albeit far from high-resolution) little photos of the perennially sexy Ewa Mataya Laurance (as well as her delightful daughter, Nikki).
There's also considerable content (illustrated with typical pool-tabletop diagrams) on shots & drills, though it doesn't fully rival the best books' more in-depth coverage. It's certainly worth collecting (I'm speaking as someone who's collected 51--virtually "all"--of the best-known pool books), provided you don't pay full price. (Instead, order a greatly discounted new copy via a third-party vendor.) |
