Costs more, delivers the same.,

The other reviewer said it correct, "QuickBooks Enhanced Payroll allows you to pay for features you could careless about. However you need not worry as Intuit will slowy remove features until you are forced into a new product line."
Yes, intuit software generally works the same way - you get used to it, then they remove features unless you "upgrade", soon those upgrades are required each year and cost more. Try another accounting package, you will appreciate it next year when it's time to buy next years required upgrades.

Unlike some other reviews which seem to come right from Intuit marketing I'm a real user. So I'm here today because the Basic Payroll only does tax tables. Gone are W-2, W-3, 940, and 941. I like how Intuit tells you to go see your accountant to fill out these forms (QB Basic Payroll). Kind of thought that's what QB function in life was, to reduce the need for an accountant. Kind of late for me to jump to a new program however Jan 1 of 2010 I'll no longer be dealing with this spiral cost increases and the pay more for less progression built into the Intuit product line. I'm not so old nor stupid to learn a new software package. Oh right the product review part.

I don't often write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my intense dislike for Intuit's business model of constantly removing features and charging you more. The "subscription" to payroll costs more than the software. They have stripped even basic functionality - filling out your tax forms - from the 1-3 employee version, which is unconscionable. I've been using quickbooks since it's inception, not only do I not feel valued as a customer, but I also feel trapped.
To make matters worse, I had a subscription that ended at the end of the quarter, my taxes forms are due the next month, they will not even print the forms for the period I was covered. If this could be rated with a negative number, I would do so. PS it does what it says it will do for +/- 300/year! violating the consumer - priceless!

PRICE GOUGING SHAME ON YOU INTUIT,

I purchased `QuickBooks Pro with Enhanced Payroll for 3 employees' online for less than $200. When I registered payroll with Intuit, I was informed that if I exceeded payroll for more than 3 employees I would have the option to pay $10 per month or an additional $100 per year for the unlimited version.
I now have 5 employees and contacted Intuit to upgrade to the unlimited version. I was informed by 'John `that because I didn't buy the software from Intuit at the retail price, I would have to pay him $349 for the unlimited version and then contact customer service to provide them with a receipt for what I actually paid for the product and they would decide how much to charge me for the unlimited upgrade. He told me that if I paid less than retail, I would have pay more than $100 for the upgrade or else pay $10 per month! If you received QBP with Payroll as a gift and don't have a receipt, I guess it'll cost $349 for unlimited upgrade.

Enhanced payroll is the solution,

The Enhanced payroll is an excellent tool for payroll. It is by far (and I've used just about all the others out there) the most user friendly.
Doing the payroll is completely easy, it takes me about 5 minutes to run payroll. I like it because it tracks everything for me for tax purposes. submitting federal taxes is only a few clicks and its done. doing the w-2 and w-3 is completely easy, takes about 5 minutes. fills in all the state forms for you, you just print and sign. i have no accounting experience and it was very easy to learn and use. it actually saves me money and a lot of time, because i don't need to hire others to do the payroll and taxes any more. I can't even imagine running the business with out it, QuickBooks enhanced payroll makes it about as simple as it can get.

Quickbooks payroll,

Today, Quickbooks changed the payroll module and our address from Nevada to Texas. I called for support and was on hold for over 34 minutes. Finally, I spoke to someone and was told that I set up our address as Texas. That was totally incorrect because after the payroll was setup we had a CPA to come in and make sure the setup was correct. They were finally able to get me into the new payroll system but I was unable to create checks because they eliminated the editing portion and the custom choice of dates for the payroll checks. Then I was told that our payroll was not compatible with their new payroll system and we should use the desktop version. Therefore, I was not able to create checks today. The owner of the company will call them tomorrow and see what can be done about this problem. I would not recommend this system to anyone. Much less a beginner, learning payroll, since I have 20 years experience and cannot master all the unnecessary changes. Also, our payroll was setup with Quickbooks in January 2010 and now they decide to change things and then tell me that our payroll was not condusive to their system. Poor customer loyalty with this company.

I have a remodeling contracting business and have been doing payroll for 8 years-- I first started doing payroll manually -- forms and publications from- Federal and State -- this always left me wandering if I did it correctly.
When offered - I signed up for Basic Payroll with Intuit-- Quickbooks --- this gave me more confidence-- however still had to make sure I had all the forms --- and still filled out by hand-- Then enhanced payroll came along--- which has become the guru's of guru's of online payroll service --- it gives you full control and functionality where as you do not have to rely on an outside source for a payroll service (who are known to make mistakes in some occasions), updates on any federal or state payroll changes, Being a contractor -- I have a complex Workmans Comp -- since there are several rates involved. Not only does Quickbooks enhanced payroll made paychecks, payroll taxes (state & federal), W-2's & W-3's extremely easy to do --it also calculates Workman Comp quarterly amounts correctly for each employee (this function is accomplished through setup) However the best for last -- e-filing -- now that the Federal Government wants everyone to start e-filing-- payroll taxes, W-2's and W'3's, etc-- Enhanced payroll does this with complete ease- all the information is there at the click of the mouse --- at all times --you can review what is going on and make sure all info is correct -- before sending. Enhanced payroll takes out the fear of making a mistake -- takes out the fear that "Big Brother" is going to pounce on you as a business owner Just plainly stating --It takes away the mystery of payroll |
