Great Resource for All Quickbook Users,
By
This review is from: QuickBooks 2010 The Official Guide (Quicken Press) (Paperback)
As a CPA who has had experience working with various accounting software products but, at the time, new to Quickbooks, I found this book to be a fantatic step-by-step guide to setup your company file, lists and items with detailed instructions and insider tips. This book effectively conveys the sometimes technical language and processes of accounting in a way that allows users to understand some of the "behind the scenes" things in Quickbooks and, more importantly, how to best utilize the software. For those who are more advanced Quickbooks users, there are chapters about running specific, detailed reports to customizing Quickbooks to your business. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to get more out of their Quickbooks accounting software.

QB 2010 Manual Does Translate to Mac Speak,

So, I bought this book at the same time I bought QB 2010 for Mac. I wasn't really thinking that it would be for the PC version of QB 2010 when I bought it. That said, the books step by step and section by section guide to setting up and using QB 2010 translated well to the Mac world. Sure I would have liked a book specifically for the Mac (which you do get by the way as a FREE download when you buy QB 2010 for Mac, found this out after the fact), but all in all it was nice to have a physical book in hand to be able to address certain sections/situations. This would be a great book for the PC QB 2010 user and is a nice to have to for the Mac QB 2010 user.

Let me start off by saying I'm a Mac user. There is a version of Quickbook for Mac users but I'm quickly discovering that the 'Official Manual' is geared for PC users and not much for Mac users. Yes, a lot of it is similar but the commands are either different or none existent. Even the screen shots are not like what I'm viewing on my Mac. Why the difference? I don't know. I would have expected the program to be pretty much as the same as a PC but I'm sadly mistaken. So Mac users....once again, there is some sort of discrimination going on. LOL

I purchased this book in order to help a friend who is running Quickbooks. The format is easy to follow and allows you to locate key topics.
Prices is right. Logan G Inc.

Not what I expected,
By Charles Cameron (Somerville, MA, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: QuickBooks 2010 The Official Guide (Quicken Press) (Paperback)
After years of using Quicken I was excited to move up to a powerful tool that would not only keep me organized but give me the power to help predict the future of my business.
What I got was an uninspiring counterintuitive program with all the excitement of the tax code. None of the graphic clarity of Quicken was passed on, and none of the autocomplete shortcuts that save me the time I could be using to think about my company. This is just plain old double entry bookkeeping that links data bases. Since I don't extend credit, I don't need all the invoices and receivables software. I can do most everything with Quicken that I hoped to accomplish with Quickbooks and I don't have to take an expensive course to learn how to use it. I had to buy a new version of Quicken to support online banking, but Quickbooks went back in the box. I'll take it back out when I can hire a full time bookkeeper who does the boring stuff for a living. |
