Not worth the upgrade,

If you are already using Quickbooks 2008 or higher, 2010 is not worth the upgrade. The only and I mean only reason I upgraded was because it claimed to offer the ability to attach files to customers, employees and vendors. Well, I have to say you can do that - IF you sign up for their on-line Document Management Service. It WILL NOT attach a file and keep it local. Which means you always have to have internet access to see your attached files. Also, the service is only free for the first 100 mb of files. After that, you start shelling out bucks. I know many operations use shared documents like this and I think it's a great option. However, why can't there also be an option to just use your local files? I am the only person that uses my Quickbooks and I have no need to see these files if I'm not on my laptop. When I looked at the product info on Intuit's website it says "Organize and back-up documents by attaching them to your QuickBooks records." It says nothing (not even in the disclaimer) that this is an on-line service only. The other issue is with Intuit itself. You have to call them to complete the product registration and they try to sell you more stuff. They also tried to tell me my current payroll service (which they automatically renewed) is no longer offered and I had to upgrade. Told them no and so far my current service is still in tact. I give this a 2 because of the misinformation and the features the product touts are not as useful as they appear in the product advertisement. I would recommend the upgrade from QB 2007 or earlier because 2008 came out with some great changes. But if you are on 2008, don't waste the money unless shared documents is your thing.

QB Contractor 2010,

Very disappointed that you will still need to install the R5 revision with this new product, which causes printing issues in Windows 7. When we purchased this for our company, QB stated the R5 patch would not have to be installed - WRONG! It turns out we didn't need to upgrade from 2009 to 2010. Needless to say, we will not be using QB in 2011.

Since 2008 I use the QuickBooks, at the end of October 2009 I bought the QuickBooks Premier 2010 in March 2010 it stopped functioning.
Error: Make sure MSXML 4 has been installed on your system correctly. I tried to solve contacting the QuickBooks Support. I was instructed that I would not get help without pay, that I could count on the community but from the company to receive help to repair the Error: Make sure MSXML 4 has been installed on your system correctly, I needed to make a contract and start to pay a monthly protection! The price for just one help was significantly higher. I ask you: a product with just 5 month of use doesn't have warranty? Via the community I learn that one incompatibility between Windows and QuickBooks is the cause of the Error: Make sure MSXML 4 has been installed on your system. So this is a problem of the QuickBooks software not from the use I made of it. Several users are having the same Error: Make sure MSXML 4 has been installed on your system... Several others companies that sell software keep correcting their problems as part of the routine. To QuickBooks FEE MUST APLLY! Independent of my opinion I had a problem, the dates processed by the QuickBooks were lost, I needed to get them back. So if I was forced to pay monthly to QuickBooks, I choose pay the online product. I contact the support to be sure that I would be able to recover my dates. The answer was yes. I made my inscription to the month trial and started the recovery. Surprise! It didn't function. Again I called the support. Theresa understood my trouble, explaining that I needed the QuickBooks installed in the PC to open the company and then upload to online! Back to the initial problem! I couldn't recover my backups without a functioning version on my PC, so I couldn't also use the QuickBooks Online Theresa proposed to try a new way, the download a QuickBooks trial version to the PC. I followed her directions but it didn't function also, the same Error: Make sure MSXML 4 has been installed on your system... The computer I use and QuickBooks are incompatible. I had to give up, enough stress and time- days! The solution: a friend laptop, downloading the trial version, recovering the dates and transferring to the Excel. Now I have to look for other business software, with a company responsible for their own products.

Don't make the mistake if you are using Quickbooks 2007, there is nothing new in this version (unless you are doing payroll...there is a change in the online connection) but if you are doing paper checks in your office and printing or emailing invoices or estimates...do not waste your money.

Sophisticated enough for an accountant, simple enough for a small business owner,

Some financial software can be hard to use and understand if you're not an accountant. Quickbooks makes it easy for small business owners and specifically, in my case, general contractors to do their bookkeeping and generate the reports needed to understand where your business is at financially.

The 2010 QuickBooks Contractor Edition was by far the best/easiest conversion to date. It was a pleasant surprise.

We have been using Quickbooks for several years now and have never had any problems with it. Support is great and professional. We just purchased the 2010 update, but have yet to start using it. Will install this week, so am excited to see what is new!
