I've been using the 2006 version of QBK, also subscribe to their payroll service which costs about $300 / year. Just paid it and a few days later they notify by a message that it will no longer be supported unless we upgrade to the new version....Isn't that great?

Well, fine, I got the new version 2009, which is 3 updates later. I was afraid that after using it for 3 years, we are use to it, don't want too many changes to it like what MSFT Office did with 2007 version which ruined the whole thing.

Installed it, well, it's suffice to say 2009 is 99.9% same as 2006. Although I'm glad we didn't need to relearn everything, but to spend $350 on the same thing kind of sucks. It's dumb that we pay $350 for a subscription that they stopped supporting.

1 major flaw with QBKS. After 3 years, there's a lot of data built up. So now, it's really slow loading, once your file gets over the 40mb range, really feel the slowness. Now we are at 80mb, it's really bad. It's time to look for alternatives.

DON'T USE QUICKBOOKS PAYROLL!!!!!

I am a QB Pro Advisor and have many QB clients. I am fairly happy with QB overall, but their payroll systems have a MAJOR SECURITY FLAW in them that everyone should know about. I lost a client over this and suffice it to say I'm not happy. QB Enterprise Edition also has this flaw by the way, and QB does not know what to do about it. They don't seem to care either. Apparantly, even though you can lock people out of QB payroll transactions etc., if they have access to the general ledger, then they have access to detail payroll data. The reason for this is that QB posts the detail of every paycheck to the G/L. So if you want to prevent someone in the accounting department from seeing payroll (a typical client need), user permissions doesn't do the trick. Because even though they can't see the payroll transactions in the payroll module, they can see every gross payroll transaction for each employee in the general ledger!!! Great job designing this part of the system QuickBooks!!!!

DON'T USE QUICKBOOKS PAYROLL!!!!!

The online banking part of QuickBooks 2009 is all but non-functional. You must exit online banking even to add a payee and cannot add-multiple. This will soon be partly fixed, but full access to all the 2008 OLB features will take quite a while. Until Intuit fixes this and other problems no one should use QuickBooks 2009.

Ok, nice program, but if you use quicken '08 or '09, you can't transfer data. Unreal, so these guys don't figure that up to date users would not switch over to QB !!!!!

What are the options? Re enter everything by hand...nope, wait for them to figure out how to transfer data? nope! Send it back...yep.

QuickBooks Pro 2009
We use the 3 user version of QuickBooks Pro 2009. This is the best upgrade ever and we have been using Quick Books almost since the first version came out. The new one is faster and eisier to use than any other version.

We've used QuickBooks for many years, since 1998, and we've always loved how user friendly it is...the 2009 version has many wonderful features, but there seems to be a few bugs that must be worked out. The "admin" screen closes without warning, and it shuts out the other users. I thought this could be a problem with the computer, but I've been assured that it is not. There are a few other minor issues when everyone is logged on at the same time...but over all, it's still QuickBooks, easy to use, and oh so easy to understand!

I am bookkeeper for a small business and we were using QB 2006 until this forced upgrade by Intuit. We weren't happy initially because of the cash outlay, ($380 because we need it for 2 users at a time), but our fears were unfounded. It not only works better than 2006, but the install went smoothly and we have had no problems. My 2006 version had been giving me trouble for about the last 6 months and all that is gone now. QB was freezing and then either shutting down or I had to shut it down using the taskmaster. What a royal pain it had become.

2009 has some nice new features, and overall appears to be a better product than 2006. I use almost all of the reports and am having no trouble at all. I also export a lot because there are limitations to what QB reports will do, and I want more flexibility. I am perfectly satisfied with what it does.

Payroll is running fine, and unlike another reviewer, we don't have the problem with payroll security because we're a small business.

We haven't had the server problems another reviewer has had, so I can't address that problem.

Overall we're satisfied, but most of all I am grateful to have found this on Amazon.com because the price was the lowest I could find, and believe me, after spending days shopping for this software, I know this was the best price.

I am a CPA and many of my clients use Quickbooks. It offers many features for my clients to get their accounting information to me and allows me to make corrections and adjustments and return the changes so that they can update their data without making manual entries.

This product also interfaces with Turbo Tax and Lacerte which are tax preparation programs offered by Intuit.

It is easy to use and only required proper initial setup for a smooth running accounting program.

The QuickBooks Database Server Manager requires manual intervention each time our server is rebooted. The .nd file needs to be erased and the data folder needs to be rescanned. Also the help function points to a nonexistent web page, but updates can be installed manually.

We are running Vista Home Premium 64-bit with the latest Windows and QuickBooks updates installed.

The QuickBooks full program running on our XP Pro clients is much slower than QuickBooks 2006. The clients are modest machines with 512MB RAM.

I'm not an accountant so I can't comment on the features or accuracy of the program.
Hence 3 stars instead of 2 for the technical issues.

Product arrived quickly. I use QuickBooks everyday and finally upgraded to a multi-user version. Love It. Now I can finish my work without being interrupted when someone else needs to view something in QuickBooks as well.
