1.0 out of 5 stars Customer Support System is Horrendous!
I don't have a problem with the software. It pretty much does what we need but reversing an error can be a nightmare. Before I start this tirade, I should point out that the customer service reps were very nice. But they don't have the infrastructure to provide the most basic level of service (please, read on). 1.0 out of 5 stars Customer Support System is Horrendous!, November 2, 2006
This review is from: QuickBooks Standard Payroll 2007 (Requires QuickBooks) [OLDER VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I don't have a problem with the software. It pretty much does what we need but reversing an error can be a nightmare. Before I start this tirade, I should point out that the customer service reps were very nice. But they don't have the infrastructure to provide the most basic level of service (please, read on). The customer support system for the payroll upgrade on this product is really scary. (1) They want to have access to your checking account to pay for the annual payroll subscription!! (2) They DO NOT SEND RECEIPTS!! I help with the books for a small non-profit and paid for the payroll subscription on my own credit card. The only receipt I could get was a copy of the invoice, which is not formatted to print correctly on an HP1200 (duh!!). What is really disturbing is that these people are supposed to be accounting experts! If you acquiesce to the checking account withdrawal, the only receipt you receive is the line item on your bank statement. Have they every heard of a "paper trail". Well you sure won't get one if you purchase the payroll subscription for this product. I will start looking for an alternative to Intuit because they obviously don't understand some basic accounting and auditing principles.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Solution Ever for a Small Business..., February 9, 2007

Patrick M. Hussey (Baltimore, MD, United States) - See all my reviews

This review is from: QuickBooks Standard Payroll 2007 (Requires QuickBooks) [OLDER VERSION] (CD-ROM)
This software, which is supposed to make payroll easier for small businesses, is trash. It is one gigantic money-grab from day 1. First, they don't tell you that you can't file your state taxes with this module, and want you to pay an extra $300 for that privilege on TOP of what you've already paid. Then, if anything goes wrong, like if you type in the incorrect EIN, Intuit won't let you change that number in the software. Then you have to call them at $50 a clip every time something goes wrong, and it often does!

The point in buying this software is to save money and enable users to accomplish their particular ends, but the pure greed of this firm has driven up the cost of Payroll so much that you are better off going with a regular payroll processing firm like ADP. Yes, you could still save a few dollars with Intuit, but honestly, the time wasting and extortion is so great with this piece of trash that you'll soon wish you'd gone with another firm's services.

The bottom line is that once you've paid these guys your first $150, it's just the beginning of the extortion. You're locked into their horrible system!

Truly horrible. I despise Intuit!

4.0 out of 5 stars QuickBooks Standard Payroll 2007, February 11, 2007
This review is from: QuickBooks Standard Payroll 2007 (Requires QuickBooks) [OLDER VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I have recently installed it, but upon quick review, Federal reports are going to be easier than versions in the past. Disappointingly, the regular payroll screen has changed. I hope it works as easily as versions in the past. Also, Amazon had this product cheaper than purchasing it elsewhere.

1.0 out of 5 stars useless, January 11, 2007
This review is from: QuickBooks Standard Payroll 2007 (Requires QuickBooks) [OLDER VERSION] (CD-ROM)
The best thing about this product is that I was able to cancel it for free within the 30-day trial period. I tried hard to make it work, all the settings seemed fine, I got all the confirmations, but no paychecks were ever processed. Now if that was some photo printing service I would not really mind an unexplained delay, but this is PAYROLL! Do you think any of my employees appreciate an explanation like "your paycheck is not going through today because Quickbooks still has some glitches"? That's when I realized that payroll is better contracted to an actual service provider rather than this piece of software.

5.0 out of 5 stars QB Payroll, March 8, 2007

This review is from: QuickBooks Standard Payroll 2007 (Requires QuickBooks) [OLDER VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I have just converted my books, including payroll from a very old version of Peachtree to QuickBooks 2007.

We were handwriting our checks. It took so much time to write them by hand, enter on the check register, then enter into the computer.

Wow! We love it.
