My first Grantwood QuickFlipCase served me loyally, daily, for about two years before breaking (not the case's fault... it was definitely abused). I looked around for a case I liked as much, and totally struck out. The closest case to this one is by Marware, readily available at the Apple Store (and elsewhere), but I tried that option and found it to be utterly inferior. The Velcro closure was a joke, and the case fit the phone too tightly (especially when I added an ultra thin Air Jacket Case to the phone, for protection out of the holster).

Nothing else was working for me. I hate big bulky cases, but the thinner cases don't protect well enough. I don't want it in my pocket, I want it on my belt. And vertical cases are horrible if you ever want to sit down without having to remove the phone first. I also dislike strong branding on cases... I need something understated and business-like, since I actually conduct business while wearing these case.

So I finally contacted Grantwood directly to find if there was any way to get a replacement. To my surprise, the owner responded quickly, and offered to replace my case for me, no charge. I was just looking for a place to purchase one! Not only that, but he offered to send me a new, upgraded version of the case, with reinforced "arms" which may have helped my original not die in the first place. I was floored.

True to their word, I received not only a replacement case (original), but an upgraded case as well. That's customer service!

The upgraded case also has a metal reinforcing tip on the belt loop, at the tip. That tip had always concerned me a little... it never gave out, but now I don't worry at all.

As for the new case also offers reinforcement of the structural side members (not sure how to describe them), as I said before. They added some elastic to help protect the leather from stresses, should help with the case's durability. Very good idea, as this is where my original case failed. I'm hopeful this one will last a good long while, because I really like it!

The leather is somewhat different... a little more textured, compared the smoother leather on the old case. Not a huge difference, but noticeable to me, holding them side by side. I'm neutral on this change. I assume there is an advantage to the changed leather (stronger, more durable?), but regardless, at worst it doesn't seem to be any worse, so possible plus, no minus.

I THINK the new case is a smidgen larger? The "loop" I see, looking at the bottom corner of the case from the side, the circle formed by the curving bottom of the case up to the structural cross-piece (newly reinforced with elastic) looks a little bit smaller on the old case compared the new one... the new one appears ever so slightly larger. Doesn't make much difference with my phone (which is in a minimalist Power Support USA Air Jacket case ([...]), which is a perfect companion to this case), but for people who want double protection and put their phone in a slightly bigger case before putting it in your hip case, the extra little bit of room may give them more options.

Other than that, all the positive features from the original case are still present: Great looks, the vertical format that doesn't impede sitting normally, an easy-to-slide-on- belt clip that's still easily strong enough to NOT lose your phone, The little hole along the bottom edge that makes it easy to push the phone up and out of the case, and of course the easy magnetic closure that opens SILENTLY so you can pull your phone out in a theater (before the show of course), during a meeting, or at night while getting ready to turn in (without waking your spouse with a velcro RIIIIIIP), without annoying others!

All in all, I love this case. If you're looking for a horizontal leather iPhone case, I don't think a better option exists.

Unlike others I have tried, the iPhone4, including the "bumper" fits nicely in this case. The phone slips easily in and out. This case is nicely designed and constructed. The belt clip is perfect, and holds tightly. I look forward to future products from this company.

I just wanted to let you know that I did receive the iphone leather case from Grantwood and have been using it every day now....and I LOVE it! I had been using Apple's rubber casing called Speck-but I did not like the hard clip case it came with in that it was not very ergonomical. The case clipped to your pants "vertically" and would cause the phone to be in the way with normal bending and sitting. But after trying Grantwood's new leather flip top case...I have only good things to say about it!

1. I love the magnetic clasp for ease of opening and closing the top..no
fussing there...the magnet is strong enough to keep the phone secure
without opening, while still allow for a quick "flip" of
the top to get it open.

2. The inside of the case is not too tight but allows for some room to
get the phone in and out. I particularly enjoy the open slot at the
bottom--priceless feature...allows for quick and easy removal
of the phone from the case with just a little push into the slot to
raise the phone out of the case.

3. The clip that secures the case to your pants in a horizontal
fashion...is tight and allows the case to stay put even with bending
over and movement!!!- I've have a bad experience with similar
cases that would pop off my pants whenever I bent over or sat
down...this case does NOT do that.

4. And finally, the overall appearance of the case is very attractive
and compact. Leather cleans up well.

I find Grantwood's case to be very pratical and at such a low cost for quality leather! I threw out my apple iphone casing I had been using. My iphone has found a new home in the Grantwood case...:)

I was looking for a case to protect my iPhone 4 when I throw it in my purse, in my golf bag or (occasionally) wear it on my waistband. My phone has a "speck" on it, so I needed a case big enough to fit comfortably. This case is perfect! My iPhone fits great, slips in and out easily and I feel like the screen is protected when it is rattling around in a bag. Somehow it still manages to have a fairly slim profile. If only it came in pretty colors...

Update 6/5/11 - I switched cases and now use an Otterbox Commuter. My phone (with Commuter) fits in this just fine. I only use the QuickFlip case occasionally, but I can see some wear on the inside of the elastic stitching. Otherwise, looks good.

I've been using this product for over a month now and it is exactly what I needed. I had been looking for a sturdy replacement flip-case for my 3GS-- my old case from AT&T was wearing out and it was no longer available. I finally found this one from Grantwood Tech, and it is better than my old case by far. The clip is very strong and the construction quality of the case is great. The case has openings in all the right places to run your audio wires if needed, but still covers your phone and holds it securely.

Also, an important feature for me was this: The ability to accommodate an iPhone in a hard-case (which increases the size of the phone). This Grantwood flip-case has an elastic band incorporated into the sides, allowing some room for growth. My iPhone has an InCase Slider on it and it fits fine.

Finally, even though the magnet-closure on this case is strong, it causes zero problems with the phone itself. Hopefully this alleviates the concerns I've seen posed from some folks here.

I highly recommend this product.

The case looks good, works well, and does not stick out too far. The magnetic latch is easy to open but secure. The leather is good quality. The clip works well. I thought it was a great value for the price.

When you email questions, they reply in a few hours.

When my son broke my case clip (by kicking it when I was carrying him), they were out of stock when I tried to order and buy a replacement. Grantwood replied to my query that they were expecting improved models in shortly and would send one at no charge. When the first shipment they received did not meet their quality standards, they offered me one of the interim units to hold me over until the corrected units were received.

I am a happy and satisfied customer.

Just to provide some history, this is now my 4th case for my iPhone so I have some experience with the short falls of some of the other caess out there. I honestly have nothing at all bad to say about this case as the design fixes just about every issue I had with the previous 3 cases.

1) It has a magnetic latch instead of velcro which to me is important when you want to use your phone early or late at night you don't have to wake up the whole house with the sound of velcro. The magnet is just the right strength where you aren't struggling to open it but it also wont open on it's own either. The magnets are part of a metal bar which provides some ruggedness to the flip part of the case so it isn't flimsy and so the magnets can't come loose and float around like they did with my last case.

2) The belt clip is top notch. It is well sewn and has a metal end. This was an issue with all 3 previous cases where the end material on the belt clip would rip and expose the metal clip underneath over time.

3) It is made with great materials. It feels more durable than any of my previous cases. How it will hold up after months of use I can not say at this point, but the initial quality is great.

4) With my last 2 cases, the button on the top of the iPhone that allows you to silence incoming calls was blocked. This case you have full access to this button while still providing excellent protection for the iPhone. Also I use an Incase protector cover (http://www.amazon.com/Incase-CL59152-B-Slider-iPhone-Black/dp/B002NGTMVW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265982526&sr=8-1) on my iPhone and it fits fine in this case with it on the iPhone.

That about sums it up. I can't say enough about how great this case is. It's nice to see a case design that was made by someone who may have actually used the product since so much attention was paid to the details and shortcomings of other cases. My hats off to Grantwood for putting out such a quality product.

I love this case. It is slim, stylish, and fits the iPhone4 with bumper perfectly. You need the bumper if you want to have reception on your phone when making and receiving calls. The belt clip is solid. I have owned it for about a week now and have had no issues what so ever.

I bought this case to replace a worn malware case which had held up for 2 years with the iphone 3g. Just got the new iphone 4 and decided to upgrade to a new case because the smaller iphone4 did not fit as well with the Velcro only slight operlapping.
I got this case today and immediately decided to return it because it is even bigger than my old case. You could fit two iphone 4's in the case and that was unacceptable to me. I will stay with my old case until I find something better.

It's a nice case. Too bad they use a cheap plastic belt clip. My belt clip broke off after a few weeks of use. Don't buy this item - unless you don't plan on using the belt clip.
