DON'T BOTHER,
By BJ (Newport, Rhode Island USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quicken Legal Business Pro 2008 [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
Many of the forms in the package, which I just opened, can be found for free on the web through your Secretary of State's Corporation Division, the IRS website, or a local university law library. If you have been in business for any length of time, these forms are too simple. If you are just starting out, it's worth the expense of consulting with a local attorney or, at least, checking out local business associations' and library resources first.

A huge time-saver for not too much money,

Quicken has assembled a solid collection of legal documents and forms that are well suited to people who are starting up a business. They also include additional information and tips that are helpful for avoiding some of the problems associated with a business startup. As another reviewer pointed out, most or all of this documentation is available on the web. Truth is, nearly everything in the world is available on the web... IF you have the TIME to look for it. As any business owner knows, TIME is one luxury which is often in short supply. So yes, I could have spent hours digging through forms, advice, tips, and other information on the web. Of course, I would have had to pick through all of the ads, spam, bad advice, and downright garbage to obtain a usable collection of information. There is a lot of questionable material available on the web, so the determination of what is good advice and what is garbage would be entirely up to me, the new business owner, so I would do my best to guess well. I would, of course, end up with bookmarks galore for sites that may not exist in 6 months, at which point I could simply spend a few more hours digging through the web. I chose not to do all that. Instead, I spent 5 minutes of my time and paid a few bucks for Quicken Legal Business Pro. No complaints here, and the information will be available as long as I have my CD. |
