Not enough detailed information to suit my purpose,

Maybe I just bought the wrong book, but... I was very disappointed in this one. This is the first "Dummies" book I have ever bought, and even though I was a novice at Quicken, I found it pitched at MUCH too low a level. There's a lot this book doesn't cover, and what it does cover is pretty cursory. There are many statements to the effect that "you don't really want or need to know how this works" and the author seems concerned with getting "too technical". It was almost a bit insulting, and some of the attempts at humor are pretty juvenile. I am the kind of person who wants to understand what the software is doing and how. And I'll bet that people who are afraid of getting a little "technical", are not the ones who go out and buy a book on how to use a software program anyway. I later purchased "Quicken Deluxe 98 In a Weekend" by Tinney, and found that a bit better, but still incomplete. Would it be so hard to write a book that explained the basics in the first section, and then provided all the detail in the back for reference as the user gets more and more experienced?? At the very least, I think authors of software application books should give a clear description of the audience "level of sophistication" they are aimed for. It would save us some frustration and money!
