I am a die hard Quo fan. I just received this cd and love it. This band just keeps on rocking. I'm really sorry they don't have a bigger following in the USA, if so they'd be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If Guns and Roses can get into the Hall of fame, well U know where I'm goin with that one. Buy this CD, you'll love it.

Finally ! Quo release a full force straight ahead rock album again.
After Francis Rossi released his great live album, Quo are back with this brilliant new album. No filler - all killer. Guitars in the front, keyboards in the back and Quo sound better than ever.
The songs are brilliant and for me this is already one of the best releases of 2011.
Can't wait to see them live again !

All-time British rockers Status Quo released their 29th album three and a half years after album "In Search Of The Fourth Chord" was released.
Although I like this band the album shows a lack of stylistic diversity or to be fully fair a creativity shortage.

While previous album was a mix of different styles, to a greater or lesser extent, it was a lot more interesting, tense and unpredictable, "Quid Pro Quo" brings almost predictable melodic fluency and continuity, marked by rock, pop and boogie rhythms resulting in album with a less force and similar to the band's albums from the eighties.

Guitar performances are a strong basis for the album, they are louder than the rest of the instruments, riffs and solos are relatively simple and vocals cooperative as usual. The drum can be too monotonous, without significant, more exciting transition, the bass can be felt quite well, and unfortunately the keyboards only managed to scratch its enormous potential. Pop and rock form close to the style of "The Wanderer" and "Rockin 'All Over The World", is on this album mostly shown in "Rock 'N' Roll 'N' You" with a significant piano influence, "Let's Rock", "Movin' On" and "Frozen Hero". "Dust to Gold" has more atmosphere and melancholy, "Reality Cheque" has lots of boogie-blues influences and strong background keyboard overlays, and "My Old Ways" is somewhat faster boogie-rock title type. Most of the remaining tracks are made in regular rhythms, they are quite liquid, playable, and with enviable potential, but as album they are not functioning well.

What certainly was unnecessary on this album is a new recording of one of their most famous songs, "In The Army Now", that with its conception, rhythm, reputation, and over-production simply doesn't fit.

The first cd in this 2 cd set gives us some brand new material from the group that is as good as other past releases from them. The 2nd cd is a live performance that was held in Melbourne and Amsterdam in 2010. An excellent purchase for Status quo fans.

Another "die hard" Quo fan here. This sentiment echoes what others have said here, but it bears repeating...Status Quo has released their most enjoyable, ROCKIN' album in many, many years...Quid Pro Quo! To be clear, I don't mean "Led Zeppelin" or "Foo Fighters" rock...this is just pure, good time, foot tappin' (or stompin') music...probably even better with a "pint"...;). The songs Two Way Traffic and Movin' On lead the charge, closely followed by great tracks Dust to Gold, My Old Ways, Frozen Hero, Let's Rock, and Rock 'n' Roll 'n You. The live CD includes fine versions of some older Quo favorites...nice bonus! If you, like me, really like such artists as Cheap Trick, April Wine, Foghat and The Darkness, give Quid Pro Quo a listen...then check out the albums "Quo", "Blue For You", Rockin' All Over the World, Ain't Complainin' and Under the Influence...just to start!
