This darling cloth book offers hands-on experience in recognizing shapes, telling time, buttoning, buckling, snapping, lacing, distinguishing textures, and zipping. The soft red book measures 8 inches and has a sturdy red zipper around three sides, with soft stuffed handles on top. Three bright balloons and "My Quiet Book" are embroidered on the front. Inside are four stiff white fabric-covered pages featuring eight different activities. There are quilted shapes in primary colors with Velcro attachments, a clock with movable hands, pastel quilted flowers that button onto their stems, and bright quilted balloons that snap onto their strings. There's a buckle to thread on a pair of denim shorts, white laces to secure a red and yellow tennis shoe, bright squares of differently textured fabrics for touching, and a zipper to fasten a floral dress. We were in the market for a way for our 4 year old to practice buttoning, tieing, snapping, etc., in the car and at church. Although several of the reviews were concerned about the myriad of small parts that could be lost, we decided to take a chance. Perhaps the manufacturer has heard their complaints, as our version has all the pieces attached with strings, so nothing has gotten lost. Though I'm sure very young children could pull them off if they wanted to, it has stood up to our 2 and 4 yr. old boys beautifully!

I have mixed feelings about this product. My 20 month old daughter plays with it alot and seems to enjoy it. My complaint is that the snaps, buttons and shapes can all be removed (and lost - and amazingly return) from the book. The plastic buckle on the buckle page was removed by my daughter within weeks. I've read reviews about how this book is great for the car and other types of travel. However, the pieces often fall to the floor of the car and most times cannot be retreived. The button page does not allow for both the button and button hole to be held, which doesn't emulate actual buttoning. The ballons that snap onto their page do not have any indication of where to line up or press the snap into place. I've already ordered another set of books where the pieces remain with the book.

This toy is really great. Two of my three kids have played with it and it is still in great shape.
