This review is from: A Quiet Evil (Audio CD)
First cut heard from this record on XM, I reacted: "J.J Cale morphs into a new, fresh generation!!! No question Cale's influence is heavy in Tom Wilson's music. Lee Harvey Osmond is an an A.K.A. for Wilson. This guy isn't just a derivative of Cale's. . .oh, not by a long shot. He's got his own voice, and his own very tight instrumental ensemble - a cross of rock, jazz, blues, and folk. His songs are literate, charged with poetic, talk-singing. The kind of stuff begun by Moses Allison, extended by Dylan, into Tom Waits, etc. His musical predecessors laid the groundwork for a truly fine album. Check this Canadian musical obscurity out!!!! He is the real deal.
