My 11 month old relaxes and finally gets to sleep without the usual fussies. We play this during his nap and bedtime wind down and it almost puts me to sleep!

Back in the day, Hap Palmer was the mainstay of any early childhood program, teaching songs about colors and other basic cognitive skills and about feelings and getting to know yourself and all sorts of things, great stuff for kids with regular playing at certain times throughout the day. Hap made it all happen.Ok, so this? well, the product description here gives a clue: "These beautiful serene melodies played with the soothing sounds of a chamber orchestra will appeal to listeners of all ages in a variety of situations. Children will become familiar with the sounds of the instruments of the orchestra while resting during nap time. The music is also valuable for accompaning slow stretching, and yoga. Put this recording on to calm students in the classroom... play it for yourself in the car to relax during evening commute... then use it for background dinner music to provide an aura of peace and calm for the whole family." all soft/jazz/rock ambient instrumentals. None of the honey voice of Hap helping kids learn and deal. Yeah, pretty generic mostly. Wouldn't use it for yoga, really; maybe slow stretching, and for driving and for background romantic dinner music among those too old for heavy duty romance (Barry White Sings For Someone You Love it is not). But notice one thing: these are all ADULT activities. Except maybe the yoga . . . Calm students in the classroom? I don't think so. Need the old records for that, the thoughtful, consoling Hap, the informative Hap. This Hap is pap. and mighty generic. Where's the song about Colors? We see them all around . . . Oh,well. All things change. All Things Must Pass. But we can still get the early Hap here and return to early childhood education! Does Hap do Spanish?
