For West Wing Completists,
By A Customer

Although it's not really a complete review of this album, it should be noted that Allison Janney as C.J. Cregg lip-syncs "The Jackal" in one of the greatest scenes ever of the television show "The West Wing". Just listening to the song reminds me of how great that scene is. WW or Janney fans, enjoy.

But only for tracks 6-10 in my opinion. Actually I have the cassette and I only listen to side B, which is tracks 6-10 on a CD. I LOVE "Come With Me". I first heard the song when I saw the video on BET back in 1993. That's when I bought the tape. "The Morning After" is soooo calming. "Under Your Spell" grows on you. At least on me it did, but although I like rap, I'm not crazy about it on a "jazz" album. Tinsel Town is cute and Vanston Place rounds the album out well.

The King of Acid Jazz Guitar!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Quiet Revolution (Audio CD)
This is easily one of the best contemporary jazz albums in recent years. Ronny's lucid style is reminiscent of the late, great Wes Montgomery, as well as George Benson. This is a funky collection of tunes that will appeal to acid jazz and hip hop fans. His interpretation of "Mr Walker" (written by Wes Montgomery) is fantastic; almost as good as his cover of "So What" on his first album. There are practically no weak tracks on the album, though some people may dislike "The Jackal", depending on how much you like Dana Bryant. I think he gets away with it. I hope that his new release - "A Brighter Day" - will be in a similar context to this outstanding album.

This CD turned me on to acid jazz.,

I first heard this CD while sitting in a pub in Queenstown, NZ. I was mesmerized by the funky, jazzy beat to a point where I had our waiter pull the cd from their 100 disc cd changer upsetting the whole pub in order for me to write down the artist and title. This cd is full of up-beat funky, jazzy tunes. A few of the tracks have vocals. Ronny Jordan is a very talented artist with light exposure in the States. I highly recommend this cd if you are into this kind of music.

"The Jackal", "The Morning After", "Mr. Walker" and the sweet and oh so sexy "Under Your Spell"...baby, baby, baby! its worth buying just for these tracks alone. 'Quite Revolution' as with 'The Antidote' this new album has a social relevant and current vibe to it also. On a Friday evening, after a hard grinding week on the job, this is an album I select in my car as I get out of the city. I remove it and play it again in the house as I wind down and start my weekend...vibes and vibes a aplenty!

This is one of my favorite Ronny Jordan albums. I wish he would tour more in the US so I could hear his music in person.

Very peaceful and nice,

I primarily wanted this CD for the song The Morning After. It is so peaceful and calming and easy to relax to. The title itself lends to much meaning and creativity. Very well worth it.

Ronny Jordan is defintely my favorite jazz artist, love his mix of jazz, R&B and the occasional rap. This is my fifth CD of his and my least favorite after just listening to it. I would rate them as follows: 1). The Antidote 2). Brighter Day 3). At last 4). Light to Dark. The CD starts strong & finishes strong, but the middle is just OK. However, like all his other CD's they sounded better after about the 3rd time listening, so I may be premature with this rating?

Good First Album,

A good first-up album from one of British acid-jazz's leading lights. The stand out track is "The Jackal" though the album is solid throughout. A good chill-out album for those lazy Sunday mornings. Recommended.
