Quiet River is a small town where life is slowed and everyone knows everyone else. A quiet little place that is slow in accepting outsiders but not adverse to getting to know the new residents and make them feel welcome. But beneath all of this is an evil that is reaching out to draw a particular family into its embrace so that two women can get what they want but up to now did not think that they had the opportunity for the happiness that they are searching.

The book has enough twists and turns to keep any mystery reader guessing throughout the book. It starts out as if it is going to be a story about a happily married couple and their children in an urban area. What could enter this world to upset what appears to be a perfect life. That is when people from Quiet River enter the story. The idea of going to a quiet town and to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city draws the family into the web that has been woven to trap them and if necessary destroy them as a family and possibly as individuals. It seems that danger lurks in the bucolic environment that the family has chosen to regenerate themselves after a tragedy in the big city.

The book is very interesting and an excellent read. If you are into mysteries and enjoy trying to figure out what is going to happen next then this will be an enjoyable read for you. Very good book.

There were a few parts of this novel that left me wanting that little something "extra", and there were parts that sort of went on a bit too long and dragged the story down, but overall the story itself was good. Some of the other reviews complained about the grammar and spelling issues, but overall the editing wasn't horrible. Not bad for a first novel from someone with English as a second language.

I think my title pretty much sums it up. I didn't expect much from this book simply because it was one of the first I got for my Kindle, and at that time I was just loading it up with anything I could find. I had it several months before I finally read it. And man, what I was missing! I thoroughly enjoyed it, and have already bought the next one. The twists and turns were great. And I will definitely look for more by this author!

My boyfriend gave me Kindle with some books already uploaded and this one was the first I read, because the writer is Russian. I like thrillers, especially psychological kind and this was great. I really like it. I'm not good with reviews and I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll keep it sweet and short. I really enjoyed the book and I will look for more from this author.

this was only a .99 cent mistake on my part! Allowing for the fact this is the author's first crack at a novel in English, one would expect a half-way decent editor to work with a writer to correct grammar, spelling etc and make the book flow better. Interesting concept however - I hope the author takes time to get her work edited more professionally in future.

Prepare yourself for a read with as many twists and turns as found in a raging river. Author Salnikova produces a tense page-turner with her debut novel 'Quiet River'. She creates life-like characters to populate and bring to life the small community where everyone knows everybody's business but keeps secrets hidden in dark closets.
The Collins family finds itself in the midst of a heartbreaking situation with the loss of an unborn child. Lisa's husband, Matt, wants the best for his wife and son, but has no idea his well-meaning intentions are being used against him, strictly for the greed and selfishness of two evil people.
The conclusion of this novel will have you firmly in its grip as the elements of the plot appears before your eyes like the final pieces of a large puzzle. Salnikova has created a tightly knit story filled with emotion, love, and surprises.
As an author, I commend this young Russian writer for two things; one, leaving her country and moving to America with her family, and two, for penning a novel set in this country. The challenge of writing a novel is difficult, but I'm sure even more so to write in a second language.
I will read more of Salnikova's works and encourage her to 'keep writing and smilin'.

This was a great read. I can't believe how each page kept me going. I hated to put it down and finished in just a couple days. I can't wait for the next one! (I hope?)

Very good story. Special for a first thriller from the author Natasha A. Salnikova. Good twists and turns, a real page turner. Can,t say anything about grammar because I am not very good with the language myself. But you have to give everybody a chance at writing. Well done!

I will almost always finish a book if I start it, but just couldn't finish this one. I couldn't tie in the prologue to anything remotely close in the rest of the book. I imagine it will tie in sooner or later but I just can't slog through it any longer. I found myself too districted by the constant grammatical errors. I finally gave up 1/3 of the way in. Example, "After he finished that, she suggested him to take Evan and Skull to the river, so they wouldn't bother her".
