The Quiet Road by Annie Frame, January 16, 2012
This review is from: The Quiet Road (Paperback)
The quiet Road is a definite spine chiller. It took me quite some time to read, simply because I wanted to take my time savouring every detail. I was intrigued from the start and was quickly engaged in the story. Annie Frame has done a fantastic job writing this book, it is beautifully written and extremely well thought out. I was genuinely creeped out by alot of the things in this book, everything in it was believable to me and not over done or forced.
The story follows Frankford Lucas, who is Chief Super Intendant in the police force. He has been visiting The Quiet Road in his dreams from childhood. The Quiet Road for Frankford is a place where he can relax and he loves visiting it every night n his sleep. It is quite the opposite, it is the devils playground, where he lures innocent victims in.
A string of unsolved murders in the area draws Frankford's attention, as he has witnessed their deaths and in the morning wakes up with a trophy from the victim in his house. Frankford has no explanation for this and is chilled to the bone.
A clairvoyant, Sarsaparilla Duchess, comes in on the investigations. She proves her worth to the non-believing Frankford, he starts to come to terms that something sinter is at work. When they visit The Grange, a psychiatric facility, there is talk of The Quiet Road. Frankford visits a man, that is without a doubt possessed, He committed a string of murders long ago, not unlike the ones that are being committed in the investigation.
I don't want to give to much away, but Frankford discovers the truth about The Quiet Road and everything starts to fall into place. Frankford goes on an amazing journey throughout this book, and things come full circle, just like they were intended in the grand scheme of things. The ending was truly amazing, the whole book opened my mind a bit more. This book was a pleasure to read, I am so glad I got the opportunity. Thank-you Annie Frame. I will definitely go back and read this thrilling book again.
My favourite quote from the book is "The Devil's labyrinth... He lies and waits in the whirlpool of reflection to steal you from your ownership and if you think he doesn't exist his hold on you has begun."

Chrissy's World Of Books - Reviews, May 5, 2010
This review is from: The Quiet Road (Paperback)
Oh wow what a book. From the minute I opened this book up it was one I couldn't put down. When I did put it down this book left me wondering what was going to happen next. That is one thing I really look for. Annie defiantly captured and took off running with that threw out this book. I was glued to every page I turned.
What kind of animal would brutally kill all these people and why? That is what Frankford Lucas is going to find out. Threw the help of profile Lenny Docker and a clairvoyant medium the Sarsaparilla Duchess. Frankford Lucas will find his answers but he will also find far more then he could ever imagine.
Annie Frame brings the characters to life in this book. This book is wonderfully written and flows easy for the reader. As I read I was able to feel true emotions for the main character Frankford Lucas and all the other characters in this book.
The Quiet Road is Annie's second book and I can't wait to see more and more of her work. I will most defiantly follow her work in the future. Annie Frame is a new writer and I believe she is well on her way to be one of the top 10 best Authors in the future.

Mandy Barras, April 8, 2010
This review is from: The Quiet Road (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and was enthralled from start to finish, the main charachter is enticed by evil through no fault of his own,and his journey on the quiet road is both terrifying and sad,but through his bravery and courage he fights the evil and in doing so helps alot of posessed souls. You wont want to put this book down once you start reading, there being a twist with every turn. The narrative is fluid and easy to follow, the characters and events are very real and believable.
A thoroughly good read from an author who deserves recognition.
