Sue Raney has a voice to die for and Bob Florence can play piano. Some of these performances work well. On others, Florence misses the boat as an arranger and I can hear Raney acting or showing off (like Maureen McGovern in her "let me convince you" and "dig this high note" moments). I love Johnny Mandel's music, but this is a mixed bag.

The songs of Johnny Mandel + one of my very favorite singers. What's not to like?! Sue has a sensual quality about her voice, but don't let that fool you. She has incredible chops, and that is why I call her a singer's singer.
