Not meant as an all-over shampoo for your cat. Only spot clean!,
This review is from: QuikClean Waterless Shampoo (32 oz) by Fort Dodge (Misc.)
This is the same shampoo that my vet (an all-feline vet practice) uses for their cats. It is safe for dogs, cats, and horses. Please remember that waterless shampoo *will* be licked off by your cat and is only meant to spot clean very small areas on your cat! It is not meant to clean your whole cat, as per my vet they should not lick that much product off themselves. It can be permanently damaging to a cat's kidneys to process so much chemical residue. Keeping those limitations in mind, it is still a wonderful shampoo for touch-ups.
The vet's office was very clear with me that this is not a shampoo to use all over your cat. It is *not* an "alternative" to a regular bath. It is for spot-cleaning your older cat's rear end, or for small areas on your cat. After using this product on your cat, your cat will still be wet (partly but not completely, if you have followed your vet's directions and only used it to spot-clean a section of your cat). Your cat will need to be dried off, either by towel-drying or by using a blow dryer if your cat will tolerate it. My deaf cat allows me to use a blow dryer. But if he needs an all-over bath, we do a traditional in-sink bath with "real" shampoo. This shampoo, as nice as it is, will not substitute for that. Avoid waterless shampoos that contain ingredients which are toxic to cats but are still advertised, such as pennyroyal, eucalyptus, and evening primrose.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: QuikClean Waterless Shampoo (32 oz) by Fort Dodge (Misc.)
My 14-year old dalmatian got stricken with vestibular disease, couldn't get up for five weeks (we're on our sixth week now). Obviously, even with WeeWee pads to put under him for his liquid elimination, he was getting gamey. Every day I'd use some form of 'wipe' on him right after he eliminated. Still, he was getting bad. I can't give him a 'real' bath because he can't stand up. I tried wet rags and then toweling, tried the other dry dogs shampoos: both the sprinkle on powder and the dog bath wipes. Just finished trying this product today and I must say it works better than any of the other 'dry' (waterless) dog shampoos. You spray it on and then massage it into your dog. My dog really, really liked the massage part. The shampoo spray turns into a nice foam on the dog and you can massage for as long as you want. Then you merely take a towel and dry him down and 'voila' .........freshened dog. It's worth a try. At the very best you have a fresh dog, at the worst you've had some good time massaging your dog and bonding.

Terrific alternative to a traditional bath,

I was skeptical that this waterless shampoo wouldn't live up to its promise because this isn't a traditional soap & water bath - but I was wrong.
This is one great waterless dog shampoo. Using this between traditional outdoor baths and in cold weather, when outdoor bathing can't be done where I live, is worth every penny I spent for it. It also saves my back - as I am bent over bathing my dog when outside. I can sit on the living room floor and give my dog a waterless bath. My dog has Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia and because of the steroids she's on, she can't squat well when urinating - so the urine will get on her hind legs. I give her hind legs special attention with the shampoo. Plus she gets a wonderful massage while I bathe her - and this she loves! After I towel her off, she's sweet smelling again, oil free and her fur is all fluffy - a winning combination - and I get the same effect from this shampoo as I get when giving an outdoor bath - with much less mess & work. You can't go wrong with this product. If you like your dog clean, this product is the way to go. I'll buy it again when my bottle is empty.
