5.0 out of 5 stars What I needed for heavier speakers
This stand is just what I thought it would be. Very Sturdy. The top plate is large enough for nearly any speaker size. No complaints, it doesn't wobble, however all I have is a bookshelf speaker, nearly 15 pounds on top of it.

I wanted a sturdy, adjustable height speaker stand, and I'm happy with this. The 5 height settings are just fine.

3.0 out of 5 stars An honest assessment
Let me start by saying that once you get these stands put together they ARE very sturdy and will support a 30# speaker w/o toppling. However, putting them together-- and some of the overall quality aspects-- need to be addessed. As others have stated, these stands do not come with assembly instructions, rather, simply a picture. Granted, a monkey could probably assemble them by the picture alone *IF* he had great patience-- which neither monkeys nor humans do (I know I don't...)First off, the screw that holds the top plate on stands a 50/50 chance of having its threads marred and then having to be crossthreaded to attach to the riser pole. Not a huge problem since you'll probably never take it apart but there's no reason for such a nuisance. If the manufacturers (chinese) had simply made the non-threaded hole 1/32" larger the problem would be solved. The "cable management" system consists of 2 plastic grommetts the you push into 2 holes on the top and bottom poles. 3 of the 4 broke when I ran my monster cable through them. Again, not a big deal-- black tape would work fine. But one thing that IS A PROBLEM with these plastic tabs... if you want the poles to the absolute minimum height (24") you can't achieve such because these grommetts get in the way-- until they break. In other words, the 'cable management' is a joke. The floor spikes work fine (the picture doesn't show it but the round threaded washers need to be used with the spike to lock them down). There are also rubber spikes for use on wood-- cheaply made plastic; be careful when screwing them into the threaded metal. Last but not least, "QUIKLOK" gives you a sense that the height can be adjusted w/o effort. Nothing could be further from the truth. The winged screw must be entirely removed and re-screwed into the new opening. Finding the threaded metal acceptor in the upper tube can be a challenge.
I gave it 3 stars because though they are quite functional they also has some cheap aspects-- not to mention lack of directions for those who need more than a picture (by the way, I'm a licensed contractor and quite used to tools and gadgets. I'd go 4 stars if not for the quasi-false advertising. But for what I paid? you really can expect much more.

A few notes.....

- The included instructions are very bare, only 1 diagram. Most of it is self explanatory, however I am still unsure where the 3 washers are to be installed... Perhaps they go with the carpet spikes? This speaker stand includes both carpet spikes, and rubber feet. Also included, are 2 plastic clips, to help hold the speaker wire close to the pole.

- This is for ONLY ONE STAND. When I placed an order, I didn't pay much attention, and assumed it was for 2 stands. Later, after the item had shipped, I went to the item's description and noticed it was for a single stand. Oops.

A good stand, and especially useful if you have heavy speakers you want to use as surrounds in a home theatre.

I can see where the parts are not of the finest materials and machining available, the threads are a bit coarse, so take care lining it up, as to not cross thread the bolts. The drilled holes on mine lined up perfectly, which is usually the problem I run across with prefab stuff. No directions, but just a little of Ikea logic can get it done. It took all of twenty minutes to assemble. I would not recommend it for anyone who requires frequent adjustments, or reassembly.

It's holding a 30 pound monitor, on a carpet, at it's full extension, without using the carpet spikes and is plenty sturdy. It has pre-applied rubber pads to reduce vibration and holds the speaker, just like a speaker stand is supposed too. The biggest frill for me, was the price. I'm entirely satisfied and wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stands (but parts missing), September 25, 2008

The 5 stars is for the stands once they are assembled. I ordered 2 of them. 1 showed up with all the right parts included and after a bit of thinking I figured out how to assemble it. The included instructions (if you can call them that) are NOT helpful as it is a very nondescript diagram. The 2nd stand came without THE key part to make it work and actually hold the thing up. Amazon suggested writing the US distributors of the product and they were more than happy to ship me the needed parts. OK, more than 2 weeks after ordering they are both finally assembled and in use.

The stands themselves? Sturdy would be an understatement. These things are rock solid. I have them in use holding Klipsch RS-52 surrounds that put me back [...] bucks and I trust these stands to hold them both up and not tip over. Got them on carpet and my concrete pad is not the most level. The carpet spikes are very beefy (metal) and fully adjustable to get things leveled. These are really good stands for your home recording studio and in my case they are EXCELLENT stands for my home theatre. The packers in China just must have been not paying attention the day they packed my 2nd stand. Kudos to Quiklok for sending me out the replacement parts free of charge and quickly.......

UPDATE: It has been two years now and they are holding up just fine. Just as solid as the day I assembled them. (once I had all the parts)

Very good product, but they are wasting money by including so many extra parts and wasting my time with no instructions and nothing telling you what is in the box.

I can understand the other reviews difficulty in assembling these due to the lack of step-by-step instructions, but it's honestly not too much trouble. Once you get them set up, they work like a charm, supporting small-but-heavy speakers with ease. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clark Kent, July 2, 2008
This review is from: Quiklok BS300 Quiklok BS300 Studio Monitor Speaker Stand (Adjustable Height) (Electronics)
Clark Kent...they may not be the most ascetically pleasing speaker stand in the world, but they will do the job and then some. And I do mean "and then some". I currently have a 7.1 surround setup in my living room and the surround/back speakers are Sony floor standing full band 3 way speakers. These hold the speakers very well. Since the stands have no way to secure the speakers I used some sort of velcro like super product and it holds extremely well. I have bumped the speakers, accidentally of course, only a few times I'll admit, but they didn't fall over...even considering the speakers I am using the stands for are way over the recommended height limit.

In a word, these are "junk" stands. I bought two and the hardware supplied was either incomplete or mis-manufactured to the point it was unusable. I substituted my own (much nicer) hardware and got them assembled, but I would never trust them with anything heavier than about 25 pounds. The idea of using (a very cheap) 6mm bolt to support the entire weight of the speaker is laughable and the overall quality of the stand could be surpassed by a first year metal shop student. If anyone actually used these in a studio (which I doubt), it would only be long enough to buy new stands and get these sold on ebay. I blame myself since I was suckered in by the low price, but these are not suitable for any professional use. Save your money and buy a real stand from a real manufacturer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap stands but they get the job done, November 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Quiklok BS300 Quiklok BS300 Studio Monitor Speaker Stand (Adjustable Height) (Electronics)
I purchased two of these stands for use with Mackie studio monitors. I've never bought stands for speakers before so I wasn't sure if they would be sturdy enough for 30+ pound active monitors on carpet. I have to say even though I just finished putting them together I enjoy having my monitors off my small computer desk.

I have seen some of the other reviews complaining about the poor construction with the screw threads and adjustment features. Putting these stands together took about 10 minutes a piece. Nothing difficult at all except for the screw threads. I had to use some apply some extra force getting the metal feet in, but over all it wasn't difficult at all. Once setup they seem to be holding my monitors with no problem, not flimsy at all for home use.

My only complaint, which I usually don't care about and shouldn't even mention with these stands being all metal was the packaging. The boxes were nearly destroyed when delivered. This really doesn't make a difference to me once again because there is nothing that can be damaged with all metal parts. The only thing is that if this is a normal effect you may lose some parts in shipping if the box is open. Finally, great buy for under 40 if you need something for some heavy studio monitors at home.

I was a little skeptical after reading all the reviews mentioning the difficulty in assembling these monitor stands, but after a little research I decided they were the best value and decided to brave it.

Maybe I was lucky, or maybe it is the experience I have buying and assembling Ikea furniture, but I did not have any difficulty putting together these studio monitor stands at all. They fit perfectly and my monitors have been enjoying their high stands for the last 6 months without a hitch.

The only thing I could complain about is the cable management system consisting of a few plastic gommetts to be inserted in holes provided. They are of cheap quality and will break if you don't insert them veeery slowly. Otherwise, what I did is wrap the cables around the pole, and that works just great as a "cable management" solution.
