Mind-boggling is only half of it. This book is inspirational as well. I have looked at it from cover to cover several times in the few days I have had it and see something new each time. Now I am reading it! Brilliant production and, as I said, inspirational.

QUILT NATIONAL 2009: THE BEST OF CONTEMPORARY QUILTS offers some 80 quilt designs award-winning at the annual Athens, Ohio exhibit. These have been chosen from more than 1,000 entries for the 2009 exhibition and feature quilters from over 24 states and 13 foreign countries. Each entry was judged as a work of art before it was judged as a quilt: color photos compliment notes on their making in a title for any needlework library.

As one of the artists featured in this excellent book (Leisa Rich- page 49), I am proud to be a part of such a supportive, international, high profile and professional art quilt community such as Quilt National represents. This is a fabulous book which profiles non-traditional quilts of exceptional beauty, innovation and skill; yet, within that non-traditional approach, all of the artists still employ traditional quilting techniques. It is a book that can inspire the beginner, intrigue the home quilter and awe the professional. Not a "how-to" this book is one to return to time and again to be inspired and creatively renewed! Thank you, Quilt National and Lark Books and thank you to all who purchase this book and keep quilting tradition alive!

The quilts are innovative and a nice book to feed my soul. Good value for a hardbound book.

The quilts pictured weren't inspiring to me. If I had seen the book, I would not have purchased it. I can appreciate the work that went into them, but the whole book felt colorless.

This book is for the extreme "Contemporary" quilter. Techniques of all descriptions have been carefully selected as "masterpieces" in modernity. Definitely not for the beginner quilter or one who does not appreciate going "out of the box".
