3.0 out of 5 stars Quilters Edge
This book as some very lovely quilts as examples, but uses the same quilts multiple times. I'd liked to have seen more individual examples.

The color pages are lovely and directions are easy to understand. I had hoped for more ideas, but the ones given are very useful.

Darlene clearly explains how to determine quilt sizes, adjusting sizes to fit your needs, and what options are available to you in making adjustments. She gets you thinking about different ways to set blocks and whether or not to have sashings. This book covers setting triangles, lengthwise versus widthwise borders, prairie points, scalloped edges, scalloped edges within a square outer border, ice cream cone borders, flanges, mitered borders and more. Binding secrets, borders using border prints and even ruffled pillows are included. This book has clear illustrations and will give you wonderful new ideas for your next project.

I wanted to learn how to do scalloped edges on quilts. I learned that and also how to do other special edges. I am looking forward to trying out all the different techniques. I think this is an invaluable addition to anyone's quilting library.

Nice book with tons of photos, though many of them are the same quilts. I did find a handful of ideas to try. Not so much a hands-on book as it is a display of a variety of quilts and some ideas for finishing touches.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Instruction Book, December 12, 2009

Whilst this book has great detailed instructions and beautiful coloured photos for completing a quilt, I purchased it, thinking it would give detailed patterns and instructions for borders. It did not have much on quilt borders, much to my disappointment. I would recommend it for people that are new to patchwork and quilting, it has a lot of helpful information!!!

Looked briefly through this book. I thought it would have more information, but it really and truthfully has everything a beginner will need to be successful in her quilting abilities.
