4.0 out of 5 stars Fun book!
While this book does give fabric requirements for individual blocks, it doesn't give those for entire quilts. Looking at the bright side, however, the blocks could be put together in so many different ways that a pattern for a single quilt might be limiting. 3.0 out of 5 stars Cover is a little misleading
When I bought this book, I expected to be able to make quilt squares that looked like the ones on the front cover. That isn't the case, though. All of the quilt squares are meant to be made flat. To be honest, muppets are so simple that I could have made flat quilt squares without the help of a book. I was looking forward to making Miss Piggy and Kermit just the way...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun book!, January 14, 2001

While this book does give fabric requirements for individual blocks, it doesn't give those for entire quilts. Looking at the bright side, however, the blocks could be put together in so many different ways that a pattern for a single quilt might be limiting. I enjoyed reading about the friendship quilts made by the Sesame Street people, and the patterns for the blocks are adorable. The instructions were easy to follow, as they use simple fusible appliqué with optional satin stitching (recommended if you're going to wash the finished product). I made one block (Elmo) for a placemat for my grandson, and it turned out so cute that I may have to make an entire set for the family!

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Quilting Moms, May 10, 2001

The quilt blocks in this book are so much fun to make! Experienced quilters can use many different types of fabric to give the quilt dimension, but one-dimensional fabrics work well too. The instructions on applique could have been a bit more detailed, but they are probably enough for firt-time applique'ers. 15 blocks to choose from allows you to make a project of any size.

I bought this book a year ago and finished 2 Sesame Street quilts for my children for Christmas. The book gives a lot of great ideas. I did not use all of the templates that were provided but purchased a kite that had better scale characters to recreate. The stories about the quilts the author made are fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, November 20, 2005
This review is from: Quilting with the Muppets: 15 Fun and Creative Patterns (Paperback)
My sister got me this book for my birthday in May. I have some experience with basic quilting, but have never done applique. It is December now and I have made all nine sesame street character blocks in the book and they turned out GREAT! They were EASY and FUN! I subsequently taught my sister, who has no sewing skills, to make the blocks and she has made some of the muppet show patterns already. We are having so much fun and my 6-month old daughter is already fascinated by the bright, multi-textured characters on the blocks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet stories, cute quilts, May 26, 2001

Who wouldn't love Kermit and Miss Piggy? But the real surprise was the charming quilts and the stories that went with them. Not only does this book have simple designs that you can use, it is filled with a series of quilts that the staff of the Henson company has made over the years. They are not quilters, but they are certainly artists who know their way around a needle. They have creatively mixed traditional blocks with Muppet blocks for a series of Friendship quilts that will open your eyes to the possibilities in that traditional form. Even if you have no children, you will enjoy looking through these pages.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cover is a little misleading, May 16, 2011
This review is from: Quilting with the Muppets: 15 Fun and Creative Patterns (Paperback)
When I bought this book, I expected to be able to make quilt squares that looked like the ones on the front cover. That isn't the case, though. All of the quilt squares are meant to be made flat. To be honest, muppets are so simple that I could have made flat quilt squares without the help of a book. I was looking forward to making Miss Piggy and Kermit just the way they are on the cover, but the book doesn't actually help you do that, it just mentions somewhere on the instruction page that the pictured image is not what the pattern will produce and doesn't go into any real detail about how to produce the pictured results other than "use more fabric if you're going to use foam underneath."

I still like the book and I especially like the stories behind the completed quilts that are featured in the book.

This book was delightful, with easy to follow instructions and patterns. I was surprised at just how soon it arrived on my doorstep (in South Australia), much earlier than the expected due date. Not only will my grandchildren enjoy the completed projects, I will get much pleasure from making them!

This a great book for getting ideas on making your muppet quilt and there are some good applique patterns. It will not tell you how to make one of these quilts from start to finish, so don't buy this thinking it is an instruction manual of any sort. You do get some good hints, however, and the quilts pictured in the book are just awesome! All in all, I'm glad I bought it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Muppet Quilt, July 18, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Quilting with the Muppets: 15 Fun and Creative Patterns (Paperback)
It was a lot of fun to make this quilt for my Granddaughter's 1st. Birthday. I made 8 of the blocks and filled in with 9 patch blocks that I made from the material I used on the background. It is not for beginners, because there are no directions on how to put the strips in between the squares and rows or finishing the quilt. I had to order material with numbers on it for behind Count and brick material behind Oscar. Also found some Sesame St. material on Ebay. I couldn't find green and blue fuzzy for Oscar and Cookie, so bought two little stuffed figures, opened the seams and used that for their bodies. Ernie is a little bigger than the others. If I'd make another one I'd reduce his size to match the others. It turned out really cute! It took me about 4.5 months to do it all. Molly loves it!
