This is not a "how to" book, but rather a brief history of quilting in many countries around the world. I have it on my coffee table and even people who do not quilt have enjoyed thumbing through and looking at quilts from specific parts of the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars great book for ... March 23, 2011
Format:Hardcover
Spike's presentation of quilt history can turn those people who don't think history is interesting into people who do and who want to learn more. History doesn't mean old and dusty, it means past events including those that happened yesterday.
It is the tidbits from different countries that I found compelling, especially from guest authors talking about their local guild and exhibits. These women are recognized experts in their craft or business. They add a down to earth friendly sense of their area's quilters, past and current. I would go so far as to say it includes pop culture of the times we live in as quilters in the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book is better than its beautiful cover! March 28, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
If you can believe my title of this review, and you purchase this book,
you will most likely be pleased as punch. The scope of information is astounding to me. It took some incredible work to get this all together. It is going to be fun to present what I am learning to my quilt guild. It is a little heavy but
so worth it. Pretty enough to be a coffee table book, I am putting it on mine.
It will be handy for me to look up things and share with others. I am inspired to
attempt to produce better work in my own sewing. Knowing what other quilters do
has allowed me to feel connected to quilters around the world, back thru history and nowadays.
