6 of 7 people found the following review helpful By Britt Arnhild Lindland on September 22, 2002
Format: Paperback
I'm a quilt lover, and my favorite are old scrappy quilts. I do alot of quilting myself, but as a result of my love for quilts I also collect quilt books. One of my favorites is this little books from That Patchwork Place, Quilts from the Smithsonian by Mimi Dietrich
The book has pictures and patterns of 12 great quilts from the Smithsonian collection, from a simple Plaid Patch to the more complexed Chesapeake Rose, and The Lilies of the Quilters. There are all colored pictures all through the book, and the there are easy to follow directions helping you to make your own quilts for future generations to love. Or if you are not a quilter the book si a perfect coffee table book with all it's colors and inspirations.

Wonderful book featuring quilts from the Smithsonian textile collection with patterns for creating your own versions. Well-written, interesting quilt history. Mimi Dietrich is an excellent teacher and her patterns are clear and easy to follow. Companion book to "Quilts: an American Legacy".
