Translation of first two books of the science of Immortality preached by the Buddha,
By Jinajik "Adhipendramuni" (New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Quintessence Tantras of Tibetan Medicine (Paperback)
Dr. Barry Clark, the only Western doctor fully qualified to practice the Tibetan medical art as taught by the Buddha in the four Tantras of Immortality (Amrtahrdaya - the Heart or Quintessence of Immortality) has done a marvellous job in translating and publishing this text. Previously, the only translation of this ancient and invaluable lore of transcendent medicine was in Vaidya Bhagwan Dash's Encyclopedia of Tibetan Medicine in piecemeal form, and very rare and hard to find nowadays. Here one will find the Buddha's medical discourse on the body, fetal development, childbirth, signs of death, characterstics of disease and the arts and wiles of the good doctor. Although this Mahayana scripture never made it into the Tibetan Tripitaka, it is among the most seminal, important and profound of all sermons preached by the compassionate Buddha. A must-have in any library of Mahayana Buddhism.
