With Zagat (now Google) and Yelp out there, what is Amazon to do?

This guide is a decent start, main sections:

1. Eating Out (Bakeries, Outdoor dining, Cheap Eats, Splurge, Late Night, ... )
2. Local Wine and Beer (Breweries, Wine bars, Wineries)
3. Farmer's markets
4. Arts (Classical music, Visual arts, Art Walks, Museums, ...)
5. Theatre
6. Music (Shopping for music, Venues and Fests, Music news)
7. Sports (Seattle Mariners, Seattle Sounders)
8. Outdoors (Skiing, Scuba, Sailing, Running, Biking, Motorcycling)
9. Major attractions
10. Adventures
11. Kids Activities
12. Pets
13. Only in Seattle (Conventions, NW Folklife Fest, Driving in Seattle)
14. Shopping (Queen Anne, University district, Capitol Hill, Online)

Oddly, though, there is no map. In addition, the icons that are used (for the Washington state outline, eco-friendly symbol, and vegetarian-friendly) all look blocky and pixelated. This is a common problem for math formulas in Kindle versions, but there are ways to show these items cleanly on the Kindle. Also, I noticed a few typos, such as "skiiing" and "noise-canceling".

In the middle of the book, there is a long interview with a glass artist that is a good read, but still seems out of place for a book.

Overall, recommended.

Seattle is my favorite city in the world. I'm thrilled to have a Kindle book that tells me where the locals love to spend their time. Compiled by 40 or so people who love to live in Seattle, a lot of stones are turned over for the reader to review.

This book is way too much fun. Especially the location of the giant concrete troll under the bridge for those photo ops you need for your blog - yes! Stick your head up the nostril of the troll and have your friends send your pic from their phone.

It's an easy, quick, worthwhile read. I'm looking forward to eating at all the foodie spots listed. I'm looking forward also to viewing all the art stops and visiting all the music venues. Seattle is much more than just a place to enjoy a continual rain festival ;=>.

I didn't like this much. I live in Seattle and I found it kind of boring to read. I was looking for something more fun, perhaps better-written and entertaining.

I thought this book was well planned and laid-out, as well as well researched. Reading it makes me want to go back to Seattle and visit the places they recommend.

This wasn't nearly as helpful and informative as the National Trust Guide, and didn't add much to Lonely Planet's "48 Hours in Seattle". For the short form, I'd use "48 Hours"; long form, the National Trust.

This has got to be close to the worst guidebook ever written. The author talks about running in Seattle. Instead of talking about places to run, he tells you to go to Amazon and Zappos to shop for shoes. In another chapter he spends about 2 pages talking about online shopping (Again NOTHING to do with Seattle). Now I know a lot of authors write fillers by embellishing or elaborating on a subject, this is the first time I've seen somebody writing about something completely unrelated.

Much of this guide book focuses on outlying Seattle sites. Picked up a few good restaurant suggestions with website links. Overall read more like a travel journal than a guide book. But it was a freebie.

This is one great and different travel advice book! It was really helpful to me as I will be a pedestrian most of my time there. I do not mind walking in the rain but was glad to have reminders about rain gear. Places, restaurants, entertainment venues, etc. It is not a guide for accommodations; instead it focuses on finding the reader's source of personal interests. I do wish they had included public transportation information. Includes a bit of humor about driving in Seattle. Overall, I enjoyed it!
