The Quirky Plug Hub Under Desk Power Cord Management Station is a good idea, but in the way it is executed here it is a very poor value.

1. This unit is not made out of metal, as the pictures make it appear to be. It is made out of molded plastic. Power strips are sometimes the source of fires. This unit will not survive being kicked too hard, much less an electrical fire.

2. The base is too narrow to support multi-row power strips. It will only work with single-inline power strips that support 6 plugs. So the usefulness is limited.

3. The door clearance is such that large plugs (wall-warts) may not have enough clearance to allow it to close.

4. The depth is also such that there is not enough room to fully wrap longer power cords inside.

5. Even though standard power strips support 6 plugs, this unit has 3 ports and 3 wrapping poles. It might be fine for some situations, but this design further limits the capacity.

6. Considering it doesn't include a power strip, the premium it comes at makes it a poor value indeed.

CONCLUSION

There are some good things I can say about this unit. It's a good idea and it will help you organize your wires if you only need a basic inline 6 outlet power strip. And it can be mounted or left standing on your desk or the floor. But given all the shortcomings and the premium, it's not worth it.

Does exactly what it says it does, hides the cords.

However, it should be noted that it looks much more "plastic-y" that it appears in the product images, which I wish I had known.

Also, I wish that it came with screws to attach it to the bottom of a desk.

Injection molded cheap plastic junk. The front door has a poorly designed locking mechanism, and I'm just waiting for the day it doesn't stay shut anymore. It looks and feels like it should cost about a fourth as much as it does, which I've found to be the case with all "Quirky" branded products. Don't buy "Quirky" branded products. They engineer the things to be disposable, and they only cost pennies to manufacture, and then they sell them like they're made of gold and will solve all your problems.

I purchased this to help clear up some of the nightmare cord jungle that exists behind my TV stand. It serves its purpose, but it could definitely be better for the price. First of all, the unit is made out of pretty cheap and flimsy plastic. You probably don't notice it from 6 feet away, but up close it looks noticeably cheap. The unit also had trouble managing power bricks, some of which wouldn't fit inside. If this were under ten dollars, I would recommend it. For more than that, though, I'm not sure it's a good buy.

This thing is kind of flimsy and frustrating to use. It does not snap shut very well and that makes it difficult to get it to close without pinching the cords coming out of the top. Its a nice concept, but not really worth the time or $$ in my opinion.

The wife told me to fix the rats nest of cords and plugs next to her bedroom night stand. She has cell phone, house phone, kindle & laptop chargers, plus a table lamp, floor lamp & breathing machine chords all tangled up. What a mess!

The plug hub along with a Quirky cordie manager on top of the night stand straighten out the mess. All of the extra cord length is coiled neatly in the plug hub box. All of the chargers are out of sight, the cell, kindle & laptop charger cords are now conviently available to plug and unplug into their devices. The other cords are out of the way.

Thanks Quirky.

I thought I was getting aluminum, but what I received was made of plastic. I use this for my TV, DVR and Xbox, and the cables are a little too thick to all fit in the station. Nevertheless it keeps my cables tidy and mostly dust free, although I am still wondering why I paid this much for a plastic box which effects I can replicate with a shoebox and some cable ties.

Boo, Quirky. How could you get the Pivot Power Strip so right and then not make this compatible with it? Instead, I have to use an old fashioned power strip where I can't use every plug because some of what I want to plug in has power bricks, which defeats the purpose! If I try to use the Pivot Power Strip, it hangs over the edge, and then I can't wall mount this, which was why I bought it. (I wanted cords off the floor so I could use my Roomba without any issue).

I actually like the look and design, although I agree with the other reviews that for the price, and without a power strip included, it is pricey for what it is. For the next generation, if you built in the Pivot Power Strip, this would be the single best cord management solution. But as it is, I've bought the Blu-Lounge Design CB-01 instead.
