I live in Chicago, and as some of you know we run into rather severe and unpredictable weather. Most times when you wake up and find snow on your car there is a nice thick sheet of ice under there.

Thor DESTROYS ice... rips through snow, and makes short work of clearing your car.

The lack of a brush is no lack at all. The rubber tipped squeegee makes for faster clearing and you don't end up with a snow clogged brush.

Definitely the most well built ice scraper I've owned. The telescoping handle works great and locks secure, the rubberized grip is ergonomic and easy to hold on to, the silicone like "blade" works well on slushy windows. The serrated ice edge works well also, but is a little akward to use on horizontal side and back windows. Sounds like the perfect tool to combat the cold Midwest winters? There is one large negative to this scraper, on the main part of this scraper, the plastic blade has been gouged in numerous areas from scraping ice and snow. So the blade is no longer even and level, and now no longer will scrape a smooth path off my windows. It acts like every other cheap scraper I've bought and used, and then thrown away because it won't clear my windows.

Perhaps a brass blade would have been better, or more durable plastic.

UPDATE!

The plastic piece that you use to tighten the extending pieces of the pole cracked today, rendering the ice scraper even more useless. I was expecting it to last several years, and didn't last two seasons. My review stands at one star, stay away from this!

Well its an ice scraper and its an ice scraper that works well. If you have a cheap plastic one the ditch it and use this one, you wont regret it.
The only downside is that it doesn't fold down flat.

At first it was quite a good ice scraper and I was really really liking it.

However, the problem is with the locking mechanism. When you extend it you twist in the middle and then it locks in place. However, the plastic the you twist can easily break (like mine) and then the scraper becomes nearly useless.

Product is extremely well-built, solid, industrial-strength for Midwest winters. My only concern is that a neighbor might steal it since it's so cool-looking as well as performant.

Found these in a magazine and they were recommended. Can't believe how well they work up in Fairbanks Alaska. -40 and super cold and icy and this ice scraper is the best I have ever owned. Highly recommended.

It worked pretty well for a few weeks until the plastic piece in the middle cracked, leaving the telescoping handle permanently loose. Once that happens, the entire thing is essentially unusable. I'ts a stupid and crippling design flaw in an otherwise well built product.

Saw this on kick starter last year. Glad to see it doing well. Great scraper/brush. Solid materials, including the telescoping handle. Great buy.

My original review is below, but the short story is that after being ridiculously excited about Thor, it broke after the first time I used it. Quirky got in touch with me after posting this and offered to send me a new one. I just received it today and it looks like, since the original release, it's undergone a structural change to use screws to hold the pieces together. Looks a lot more solid, and even if it doesn't last forever, Quirky went above and beyond in making it right.

-----

After a huge storm the other year that hit New York City, I swore to be ready for the next one and I preordered Thor from Quirky as soon as I saw it was about to enter production. Of course, I never got the chance to use it last year since we got little to no snow. Fast forward to last month when I needed to (finally!) use it for the first time. Even my kids were excited about using it. As I went to town on the snow and ice that had accumulated on my car, the two forward pieces (the X) broke apart. They were held together with nothing but glue, and it certainly didn't live up to expectations on the first (and only) chance I had to use it.

I got one of the first units that Quirky produced, so maybe they've learned lessons since then. But if I'm giving an honest review, I can't give them the benefit of the doubt. The thing just didn't hold up, useless after half a use.

Bought this in December knowing the lack of brush would be an issue, and yes... It is. Not a huge problem, as I drive a truck with a hard tonneau over the bed, so I already keep a push broom handy for clearing snow off it. It would simply be more convenient to have a brush on this. The scraper head is excellent though, and the rubber squeegee is very useful for cooler mornings when you have condensation on the side windows (rolling them down to allow the window seal to squeegee doesn't work for me). The serrated edge really plowed right through thick ice this past winter, and the handle is a nice touch for leverage.

The big issue I've had (like many others) is the extender-arm lock mechanism is bunk. The plastic ring cracked after a few weeks of gentle use, which is worrying since I'm a 5'2" woman clearing the ice off an F-150. I can't reach the center of the windshield with the arm shortened. Once it breaks for good, I'm hoping to figure out a way to jury-rig a fix, because other than that, the scraper head is a definite win.
