A pity this book is out of print. I recently obtained a copy at a local thrift store, and it was more than worth what I paid for it. In many ways Robin Quivers' book is more interesting than Howard Stern's two biographies--her path to the Howard Stern show was not the straight path that Stern himself took. She worked in nursing, she went into the military, and she got involved with Werner Erhard-inspired self-help groups. Her upbringing was in a lower or lower-middle class home where she was subjected to abuse.

Wow! It's funny but not for the right reasons. You can really see how Robin scored so highly on the narcissism test. It was kind of hard to get through, but i love Robin!

It's a sometimes sad tale, though lightened by the unbelievably pompous and juvenile prose style of the author. Her desperate attempts at pretentiousness are undermined by her lack of facility with language. This would be a fine title for anyone interested in learning how not to write.

I am a big Howard Stern fan and I just had to read this book. I found it to be enjoyable in the begining (Robin's early life), but I got bored about three quarters way through. The book is written by her, so we miss some outside views on how she really is in her life outside of the studio.
I found the book a little self serving and you get the impression she thinks very highly of herself.
I would recommend the book if you get it for a good price on the used self.

This is one of the most touching books I have read. It tells you everything you always wanted to know about America's favorite Talk Show Hostess. I reccomend this book to any who love The Howard Stern Show and also to those that hate it because it will give you a different perspective.

If you're a listener of "The Howard Stern Show" and you have wondered why a black woman with obvious intelligence would take the controversial position of being Stern's sidekick, read this book.
Quivers delves deep into her soul, reveals her often difficult childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood and leaves you with a picture of someone who emerged from the pain secure and self-assured.
But though her soul searching is transferred to paper eloquently and with detail, as a black woman I found myself wondering why, through the years, Quivers has managed to form few, if any lasting relationships with other blacks.
Other than a close relationship with a foster brother, as an adult she appears to have bonded solely with whites. If any of Quivers' close alliances are with blacks, they are neither alluded to nor explored in the book. It is, nevertheless, a well-written, personable read, and unravels, at least to some degree, the mystery of Robin Quivers.

If you are a Howard Stern show fan, and want to hear Robin's side of things, read her book or listen to these tapes. It was great to actually hear Robin tell her story in tape format. She has definately not had an easy road to stardom and this reveals some trials and tribulations she went through to attain and achieve her goals. The story gives you a new outlook on Robin and explains why she is the way she is. A definate must!
