If you enjoy trivia games, you will want to have this book. No, it is not lengthy, but is does provide a few hours of enjoyment and fun. In addition, you will be amazed at what you can learn on a variety of topics from business, art, and mythology to math, sports and literature.

If you enjoy trivia games, you will want to have this book. No, it is not lengthy, but is does provide a few hours of enjoyment and fun. In addition, you will be amazed at what you can learn on a variety of topics from business, art, and mythology to math, sports and literature.

So, what is "keraunothnetophobia"? Believe it or not, that for me was one of the easy ones, learned from my studies in psychology. It is the fear of "falling man-made satellites." Actually, there are hundreds of known phobias (fears) but, needless to say, that is not one of the commonly known ones. However, when it came to sports, I completely bombed out in that category! The book is a real eye-opener in discovering just how little the average person truly does know! You may do exceedingly well in one category, but some of the other ones will really make your head spin. Hold onto your thinking cap; many of the questions are not easy.

If you are feel a need to challenge your knowledge and mental stamina, by all means buy this book. It is meant to be fun, and it is fun - enjoy!

This book has some really interesting trivia a passionate quizzer would like to know. I would probably rate it 4.5/5. Would have loved it if it had more because the quality of questions was pretty good. The bottom line, and all that matters is its worth the money!!!

A must-have for anyone who sneaks a peek at "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" or "Jeopardy". This book shows what quiz questions should be like - ones that have answers that simply amaze you.

Don't trust anything in this book, which seems to have been created by collecting and sorting hundreds of e-mailed lists of apocrypha.

The author has created what must certainly be the best quiz book in the market. If you want to know why women were not permitted to watch the ancient Olympics, or the method employed by a Carthusian monk to find out how fast electricity traveled, then all you have to do is read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly the kind of trivia book I was looking for, March 23, 2007
By
This review is from: Quizzing: Everything You Always Wanted to Know but Didn't Know Where to Look (The Ultimate Trivia Book) (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the question and answers in this book. The author says it accurately at the start of the book: "Quizzing is not about the bland recollection of facts....Rather quizzing is about building an extensive knowledge base and using that to work out the answer to the questions. The questions themselves should be interesting and thought provoking". I found the book to be exactly that. I am looking out for more books of this type.

This book has questions and answers that cover every conceivable topic. Be prepared for a surprise if you thought nothing interesting existed in the world of mathematics, for instance. My family enjoyed it immensely.

1.0 out of 5 stars misrepresentation, September 16, 2009

This review is from: Quizzing: Everything You Always Wanted to Know but Didn't Know Where to Look (The Ultimate Trivia Book) (Paperback)
The book is full of errors and myths and unsubstantiated "non-facts". I was looking forward to engaging my mom in a fun activity to help stimulate her brain as she begins the slippery slide into the world of dememtia. She still gets a kick out of learning and is fascinated by obscure and interesting facts. I was disappointed by the frequency of inaccurate "information".

2.0 out of 5 stars If You Ignore the Title It's Not That Bad, December 4, 2009

This review is from: Quizzing: Everything You Always Wanted to Know but Didn't Know Where to Look (The Ultimate Trivia Book) (Paperback)
"The Ultimate Trivia Book - Quizzing: Everything You Always Wanted to Know, But Didn't Know here to Look". Now wouldn't you think with a title like that that it would be a huge volume of information? Well it's not and it doesn't even come close. If Ranjit called it called it "A Nice Little Bathroom Book of Questions and Answers" then the title would fit it's content. There's approximately 480 questions and answers in this 133 page book. They are laid out in chapters by topic. About fifteen trivia questions per chapter... hardly everything you ever wanted to know about any topic. To be honest, most of the questions aren't trivia at all but serious, legitimate questions. The dictionary says trivia is "matters or things that are very unimportant, inconsequential, or nonessential; trifles; trivialities." This book doesn't not fall into this category. If you memorized every answer you would not be the life of the party. This said I did find the questions challenging since my history knowledge isn't the greatest. A couple questions had the wrong answers but he can't be right on everything.
This was a gift from my Mother and since she sent it to me out of her need the book means a lot to me. Otherwise I wouldn't be impressed.
