More than a thousand quotes,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Quotable Musician: From Bach to Tupac (Hardcover)
Sheila Anderson's QUOTABLE MUSICIAN offers quotes and vignettes from a range of musical genres, from rock to classical to hip hop music. More than a thousand quotes are accompanied by explanations of their origins, making for a title which goes beyond a quote bible to explore the insights into musicians and the music industry reflected in each saying.

What Musicians Say When They're Not Saying It with Music,
By Philip McCaffrey (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Quotable Musician: From Bach to Tupac (Hardcover)
What musicians say when they're not playing their instruments or singing their songs is shrewd, surprising, and provocative, and "The Quotable Musician" gives it to us straight up. Brava to Sheila E. Anderson for listening and for orchestrating this composition of musical wit and wisdom for us all to enjoy. Encore! Encore!

Fun Book!,
By Christine Rickoff (New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Quotable Musician: From Bach to Tupac (Hardcover)
This book is great fun and a breezy read. The quotes, from an eclectic array of musicians, have breadth and humor. But it's not just quotations! Intriguing interviews with musicians are interspersed throughout. And the best part is a list of the author's own favorite works of music. It too is an eclectic and interesting mix, but I have to admit I really love that old Dee Dee Bridgewater tune, "Sweet Rain" myself.

This review is from: The Quotable Musician: From Bach to Tupac (Hardcover)
The QUOTABLE Musician From Bach To Tupac is a business-of-show must read for anyone who is thinking that being a Musician (or in getting into Show Business) is an "easy" career choice. This book is insightful, humorous, entertaining, soulful, and warm.
Professional singers, songwriters, composers and/or musicians will read it and might find themselves laughing out loud, or nodding their head in agreement and saying: "Oh yeah...that's sooo true...glad I'm not the only one who had that thought or experience!"
