You'll want to own this book!,

This review is from: Quotations For Kids (Hardcover)
I found this book in the local library. I renewed it once before I decided I had to have it on my shelf. I teach elementary school, and found this book to be a valuable resource. Our class started to read one quote a day and to discuss the deeper meaning of each quote. These exercises help us to develop vocabulary and to discuss social and emotional issues. The 2000 quotes are of impeccable quality and come from a great variety of sources. I was impressed with the number of quotes from historical figures such as presidents, orators, inventors, and authors. There are also a number of quotes from book characters. The quotes are arranged in themes that cover almost anything you can think of....adventure, kindness, equality, etc. I am sure you will enjoy this book long past your first reading!

Filling a need,

There are lots of good quotation books for adults but, until now, there were few for children. This book fills that need admirably. The quotations are specifically geared towards children, with full color illustrations and popular subjects such as school, sports, friendship, etc. The section on "How To Use This Book" is clear and concise. The book also includes a cross-referenced subject index and a people index.Pair this book with What the Dormouse Said by Amy Gash, Who Said That? by Robert Burleigh, and/or Stretch Your Wings by Janet Cheatham Bell to round out your collection.

Open to any page and read!,
By Carol B. Caputo (Monroe Township, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quotations For Kids (Library Binding)
I "wallpaper" my sixth grade classroom with quotations, so this book was a must-have. You can open to any page and be instantly amazed by the variety and assortment of quotations by famous and not-so famous people. I especially enjoy the quotes by the authors of children's books and their characters. My students race for the book when they have free time, and they sit in groups to read the quotes and enjoy the colorful text and illustrations. The indexes and classification of the quotes are easy to use and cross-referenced. Amazingly, there were many quotes in this book that I had not found in my other books. Every lover of words and language will enjoy this book!
