More About the Author

Patty Crowe was born and raised in Arlington, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C. Emerging from the save-the-world hippie scene in high school and college, and practicing for a time as a professional photographer, she spent the next 15 years of her adult life working in a variety of non-profit fields and studying everything she could get her hands on. After getting married and raising a daughter and three sons, she turned her attention (along with her two brothers) towards caring for her elderly mother. It was this experience which would set her on a path of study and fulfillment in areas she had not previously put attention to.

Caring for her mother brought new insights into life, death and all the moments which lie in between. She began to see the subject of life, death and aging in an entirely new light and began to realize that the inevitable fact of aging didn't have to mean getting old. Rather, she realized, it is a journey we all travel but one which we have some control over how it will be traveled. It was during this time that she began studying what others in earth's history had to say about the subject and she realized the enormous power of the succinct wisdom of the past. Thus began the series of gift books on subjects of interest to man, The Greatest Quotes Series of Books with the first book in the series, Quotes on the Beauty of Aging. This was followed by Mankind's Greatest Quotes, Quotes on Art and Artists, Quotes on Children and Childhood and remainder of the series.

Patty Crowe lives with her artist husband in Arlington, Virginia where she continues to write and publish books and poetry, compose music and garden. She is always willing to receive any communication from readers and answers all letters and emails sent to her. She can be reached by writing to her in care of Richer Resources Publications or by emailing our editorial department. We will forward to her any letters or emails received.

What a wonderful book specific to art and artists. Thumbing through and reading what great artists have said about art and seeing their masterpieces among the quotes helped me understand how art communicates to all people and how it really is a different wavelenght of thought. A lovely book to own as well as to give.

This book validates the rightness of the individual to know about the subject at hand, whether trained as an artist or not. Yet each reader is included and can enjoy the richness of the photography and art included in this book. Everyone can be moved and participate in the exchange of ideas presented in the quotes. Whether one agrees or likes the quote chosen or the person quoted, one can inspect and come away feeling enriched by the exchange of viewpoints. Spending a little time with this book brings one up to a state of higher awareness and serenity such as when one experiences a truth. We are carried away out of the mundane existence, we sometimes find ourselves trudging along, when we take a few minutes with any of these Greatest Quotes Series of books.

These books are small in size but not in scope. Unpretentious but quietly truthful and inspiring.

I have a hard time picking a favorite book! But this one is definitely one of them. The artwork alone included in this book is well-worth the price without including any of the quotes. Yet with the addition of the quotes from artists and philosophers contained, one can not walk away from the book without a deeper and better appreciation of art and his own unique contribution to art. This book is indeed a sampling of art "the stored honey of the human soul" as quoted from Theodore Dreiser. The good news is that one can get as many helpings or readings with this little treasure trove as wanted with no fear of getting fat. This is a great gift book!!

I'm not sure this book would be worth spending money on. I was looking for quotes to use in my art journal. There were a couple by Michaelangelo [hope I spelled that right :) ] that I could use, but that was all. Could probably do better with a Google search.

I often write about art and artists so having a book like this is very helpful. My only wish is that there were even more great quotes to be had here. I was aware of many of these but discovered some new ones I'll be sure to reference. Loved the artwork interspersed, a nice touch!
