This review is from: Quotes for the Journey, Wisdom for the Way (Hardcover)
A book of quotations for the encouragement of the Christian walk, this book has comments from a wide range of theological sources. Many quotations are from Christians, but not all. The book is arranged by topics in alphabetical order (Death, Faith, Holiness, Home-Family-Marriage, Joy), with an author index in the back. Some quotes are rather humorous: "I have spent a lot of time searching through the Bible looking for loopholes."--W.C Fields, attributed during his last illness. Others are more profound: " 'I can forgive, but I cannot forget,' is only another way of saying 'I cannot forgive.'"--Henry Ward Beecher. The variety of authors makes the book quite intriguing, compelling the casual peruser to stop for this one, and that one, and the next one: Rose Kennedy, Victor Hugo, St. Francis of Assisi, Billy Graham, H.G. Wells, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther, Pope Pius XII. This book makes a great reference, a beautiful gift, or a casual collection for plain old enjoyment. |
