Book Description

0415225094 978-0415225090 April 6, 2000 1
This new work presents a concise and accessible introduction to the Qur'an. Muhammad Abu-Hamdiyyah first explores the concept of deity, including the Christian and Jewish understanding of God, and second discusses the Qur'anic message from the perspective of modern knowledge. This is an ideal textbook for students with no prior knowledge of the complexities of the Qur'an's message.

Editorial Reviews

Review

'It is an intelligent and gratifying study that distinguishes itself by the clarity of its vision and the lucidity of its expression. Immediately accessible to the modern reader, exemplary in its pedagogical skills, and free of all jarring polemics and apology, Abu Hamdiyyah's book makes a very welcome contribution to the contemporary Muslim effort to solicit the Qur'an to speak to our own generation ... Abu Hamdiyyah's work stands alone in the repertoire of contemporary literature.' - S. Parvez Manzoor, The Muslim World Book Review

'... this is an informative book with short, well-explained chapters.' - Victoria La'Porte, Theological Book Review

This review is from: The Qur'an: An Introduction (Paperback)
This book takes a fresh and unique look at the Qur'an. The author lays the groundwork by examining the concepts of deity and revelation before going on to look at the Qur'an from the perspective of modern scientific knowledge. Highly recommended!
