Showcases this tome of sacred scripture,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quran : A Poetic Translation (Hardcover)
Educator, linguist, and translator Fazlollah Nikayin provides the English-speaking reader with a brilliant, poetic translation of the Holy Quran that wonderfully captures the rhythmic cadence and imagery of the Arabic original. Quran: The First Poetic Translation showcases this tome of sacred scripture that inspires and guides the lives of millions of Muslims and reveals to a western readership how Muslims down through the centuries have been able to memorize and recite the entirety of the Quran, word for word and letter for letter. Quran: The First Poetic Translation is very highly recommended for personal, academic, and community library world religions and Islamic studies collections.

Poetic Translation a Worthy Effort,

This review is from: Quran : A Poetic Translation (Hardcover)
I was nervous about spending so much money for a Qur'an translation. I have read several translations by Yusuf Ali, Shakir, Pickthall, Irving, Asad and Puya/Ali and none cost so much.I found this translation an excellent complement to my other translations because it offers a fresh approach while remaining faithful to the meaning of the Arabic. I am glad I purchased it because there is no other translation like it. I think it is the only novel translation that does not depart from true Qur'anic meaning. It is a good gift to a non-Muslim because there is no Arabic in it, it is translation only in a nice modern-looking hardback....

For Kayden,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Quran : A Poetic Translation (Hardcover)
Firstly, the Qur'an is written in a beautiful form, which makes it stand out from any other Holy Books. And it's not written in the poetry way that you are thinking. It's a unique form of writing. When it says "poetry is not for you Muhammad (pbuh)" it refers to that Allah (SWT, God) is saying, that even Muhammad (pbuh) cannot make this type of poetry up. It is beyond anything that any human can write. Everything in it is so perfect, that nobody can compare their form of writing to it. You obviously won't understand it if that's all you read. The whole Qur'an has meanings, and that's why people recite and ponder over its meaning. Everytime you read it, you learn something new. If you don't know any history of anything, then how will you understand? It's like saying (e.g ;if you're a Christian) and acting like you understand the bible, when you don't know nothing about Jesus and his past history. If that was the case, there wouldn't be any need for preachers/baptists etc. and such.
