The greatest book I ever read!!!,
By Solomon Imdad (Rancho Santa Margrita, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quran: The Final Testament, Authorized English Version with Arabic Text, Revised Edition IV (Paperback)
This is by far the most accurate and modern translation of the Quran I have ever seen. I strongly recommend it. Not only does it come with the translation, but it also comes with ample scientific and mathematical evidence that this book is the truth from God.
It also has very interesting footnotes and subtitles and appendixes that correctly represents the values of true Islam (Submission). A must read for all those who worship GOD alone!

Smoothest translation; easy to read,

By far Rashad Khalifa's has been the easiest to read translation of the Qur'an. Other translators use what amounts to Middle English- the message gets lost in a muddle of words and twisted grammatical constructions. Having not been able to get through one page of other translations without getting tired, I breezed through suras at a time with this translation. Definitely the best!

The Greatest Miracle Ever!,

This review is from: Quran: The Final Testament, Authorized English Version with Arabic Text, Revised Edition IV (Paperback)
I first read Dr. Khalifa's translation online and I became captivated by the message that the Quran contains. I decided to do research on the religion of Islam due to the mainstream media's interpretation because I had no knowledge about it. I can say without a doubt that a lot of the mainstream ideas of Islam are different than what is actually contained in the Quran, which is a beacon of light and a warning to all the people.
I have a fond appreciation for math and the statistics of probability. I have studied it in college. Math is universal. The laws of our entire universe are built on the foundation of math. Who else other than our Creator would manifest a mathematical miracle in the Quran? The initials in the initialed chapters provide proof. Also, the occurrences of certain words and phrases also provide proof. The Quran itself also warns not to follow fabricated "Hadith" or religious texts that anyone claims supplements the Quran because this eventually leads to distortion. This is a smooth translation that reveals the beautiful use of language by the Author. I highly recommend this for anyone who has not attained certainty.

Shalom Aleykhem,
This is definitely the best translation of the Quran I have ever read. I appreciate the fact that it contains the least amount of sectarian bias of any Quran I have read like Maulana Ali's. I also like the fact that he uses GOD instead of Allah. It is forbidden to mix languages. The whole sentence must be in Arabic or none. But I would have used "Creator" instead of "God". This translation is also very accessible to those who are not Muslims (like myself) but want to read the Quran. He translates common Arabic terms or defines them in footnotes. I also like the numerical code he gives in the book. The book has an OUTSTANDING index and a lot of good supplementary articles in the book. But, no translation can receive 5 stars because of the necessity of interpretation. Arabic, like Hebrew and Aramaic, cannot be translated to English since English not even close to Arabic. This it not to mention the fact that the only one who can convey the meaning of any Holy Scripture has a high degree of spiritual attainment and education. The faulty translations of the Bible have lead a lot of Muslims to believe that the books are corrupted even though the Quran says the original texts are from the Creator. In the original language, there are differences. The differences are only in the translations. I also gave him a 4 since he--like most Muslims--grossly misinterpret the Bible because they do not read it in the original language. So, like most Islamic commentaries on the Bible, his opinion on some things in the Bible are based on the common (erroneous) opinion of the masses of Jews and Christians and not on the text in the original language. If he, and other Muslims, would actually read the Bible in Hebrew and Aramaic and understand that the translations are corrupted, they would not disrespect the Creator by continuing to claim that the Most High does not protect all of His revealed books as it says in the Quran. So, overall, I like this translation. It is easily the best on out there or--at least--AS GOOD and any out there. Shalom, Yehochanan

the best translation of the Quran in English,

This review is from: Quran: The Final Testament, Authorized English Version with Arabic Text, Revised Edition IV (Paperback)
The translation of the Quran by Dr. Rashad Kalifa is perfect for honest people who are looking to find out the original message in the Quran.
There are a lot of information which are lost in other translations because of combining their translations with non-sense traditions and cultural views. The Quran translated by Dr. Rashad Khalifa is a rare gift one may find in life time. You may find more info at [...] website about this translation of the Quran. I highly recommend it. I read it every day and each day I find amazing information about human's purpose of life, history, peace, self growth and how to reach a perfect happiness in this world and in the hereafter. May God guide us all in a right path of righteousness and wisdom.

I've read various translations and have found them frustrating to understand.
This translation is simple and easy to understand. Highly recommend. There may be a bias from Khalifa to slant things to show he is a messenger ( although not prophet - as others think here ). But you can ignore that if you want to and concentrate on the main text. The mathematical proof is invaluable, especially the explicit counts at the end of each page. For anyone trying to understand the Quran I'd recommend they read a biography of Muhammad - things will start making more sense as you will understand the context of each verse. Recommend Karen Armstrong for that. Peace Riaz Syed

I absolutely LOVE this Quran. It is written in a language that is very understandable and the footnotes helps immensely. It also comes with appendixes that are of fascinating read while also providing a miraculous code 19 to support the Quran. The book speaks the truth and nothing but the truth--it is truly amazing. I would rate this higher than a 5 star if I could. I've been searching for the truth for over a year now and was guided to this Quran. It has completely changed my life. All praise be to GOD for blessing us with this true Quran after so many years and thanks to those who supported the Messenger of the Covenant for your works in contribution to its writing and publishing. Also, the book "Quran, Hadith, and Islam" by Rashad Khalifa is a must read for the traditionalist Muslim as well as for those who are learning Islam. Another great read. Peace.

A misguided translation,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Quran: The Final Testament, Authorized English Version with Arabic Text, Revised Edition IV (Paperback)
The author undoubtedly is convinced that the Quran was lost for so many years and only he found it. He excludes an actual verse from the original texts and says it is because of mathematical reasons (apparently, this man believes that the number 19 means that there must be 19 of everything significant in the Quran -- a belief that is unfounded in the teachings of the Quran and does not agree with logic). Further, it seems that he is trying to start his own religion based on the Quran and his interpretations of it, because he dedicated a great number of pages to why Muslims (and non-Muslim Islamic scholars) "misunderstood" the behind-the-scenes meanings of the Quran's passages. Overall, the translation is in decent yet formal English (not the type of English you would use to speak with your friends or co-workers, but not archaic), however, because this man played "god" in deciding which verses belong and which ones do not, I would associate this translation as the handiwork of Satan trying to manipulate God's word. To all Muslims, I wouldn't suggest studying from this text. I only use it as an 'alternate' translation for certain verses in case I want to get everyone's point of view on a serious matter.

A curious Quran,
By Ashtar Command "Seeker" (Stockholm, Sweden) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Quran: The Final Testament, Authorized English Version with Arabic Text, Revised Edition IV (Paperback)
Despite its name, this isn't an authorized translation of the Quran. It's published by a small group known as United Submitters International (USI), a group considered heretical by virtually all other Muslims. The Submitters were founded by an Egyptian-American, Rashad Khalifa. He became famous in the Arab world for supposedly proving that the Quran was based on a secret numerical code based on the number 19. However, his religious criticism of official Islam wasn't well taken, and in 1990 Khalifa was assassinated in Arizona by a Muslim fundamentalist.
Thus, this translation is really a compilation of Rashad Khalifa's own opinions, and those of the small group he founded. It could be of interest for students of New Religious Movements, while those interested in main-line Islam must look elsewhere. Khalifa's views are stated in footnotes throughout the text, and also in a large number of appendices at the end of the book. As already stated, Khalifa believed that the Quran was a mathematical miracle based on multiples of the number 19. He further believed that several Quranic and Biblical prophecies were about himself! Khalifa claimed to be "The Messanger of the Covenant", sent by God in the last days to purify the religions of Islam, Christianity and Judaism from idolatry and polytheism, and restore the true religion of submission to God alone. Since Muslims consider Muhammad to have been the last prophet, Khalifa's claim to be a new messenger almost immediately placed him outside the Muslim fold (a similar fate have befallen the Ahmadiyya in Pakistan, who claim a similar role for their founder Mirza Ghulam Ahmad). It seems Khalifa received his commission during a pilgrimage to Mecca when his soul was taken to Heaven to commune with all the prophets, including Abraham, Jesus and Muhammad! The purification of Islam advocated by "the messenger of the Covenant" turns out to be very far-reaching. Khalifa rejects sunna and sharia in their entirety, radically re-interprets the Quran in a modernist direction, and even rejects the traditional Muslim confession of faith, since it mentions Muhammad. The real confession of faith should simply state that there is no God but God, period. He further believes that several verses in the Quran are later forgeries, apparently because they don't fit his numerological system. Other beliefs of the USI are more curious. For instance, Khalifa states that the age of responsibility is 40. Therefore, everyone who dies before that age goes straight to Heaven! He further believes that human souls are pre-existent, and that the soul of Jesus was snatched from Earth before he was arrested, while the body remained as a kind of mindless zombie. Thus, the Romans crucified an empty body without a soul. I also noticed that Khalifa often quotes from the Bible to prove theological points. Indeed, Khalifa calls his translation "the final testament". Finally, we learn that the end of the world will take place in AD 2271. Those to stingy to actually buy Khalifa's reworked version of the Quran can find it free at USI's website. Personally, I bought a Swedish version (!) a couple of years ago, thinking it was simply another Swedish translation of the real Quran. Was I surprised! To repeat: if you are interested in main-line Islam, this is a book to avoid. But if you want to know more about a modern, sectarian re-interpretation of Islam, in effect a New Religious Movement, then this "authorized" translation of Dr. Rashad Khalifa, the messenger of the Covenant, might be of some interest. |
